I am British and my husband is Chinese. My kids were born in HK and have HK passports but I want to get them a British one too. The problem is, I dont know which form to fill out. One form is for british citizen, one is for british national. what is the difference?

they are british citizens based on descent (through your citizenship).... HOWEVER, if you are a uk citizen through descent yourself, then your kids are not considered citizens.

thanks, that makes things clearer!
Cara - do your kids have british and hk passports? did you declare the hk one when applying for a british?

no, i have a uk passport through descent, my father was born there. so, unless my kids were born in the UK, they get nothing.

my kids have a canadian passport and are eligible for a HKSAR one.

I was boren in HK but become British citizenship by naturalisation in the 90s. Can my baby apple for on British citizenship descent?
