Bringing a helper from outside?

Hello

I am moving to Hong Kong with my family from the Middle East and we have a fantastic live in nanny / maid here with us - she is planning on returning to the phillipines in the hope that we can then bring her to Hong Kong.

Does anyone know if this is difficult and what the process is? Also how long does it take and is it very costly? I appreciate any advice or information you can provide so I can inform her if its worth travelling home or staying in Kuwait.

Cheers

Hiring a helper from the Phillipines is pretty straightforward and not very costly. SHe will have to go back to the Phillipines and it should take 4-6weeks to process her paperwork. You can only apply once you've signed a lease and sorted out your own residence.

However, according to the Phillipine Consulate website they will not process the paperwork of a Direct Hire, and you will need to go through an Employment Agency. Agencies charge around $2-3K and will handle all the paperwork and her air ticket to HK.
