Is there anyone else who doesn't have room for a baby bath on a stand? My place is only small...

I'm trying to decide between getting a baby bath which I can use on any table - but I have to fill up with a bucket (or carry the whole thing full, which might be heavy!!) - but at least if it's on a table, it'll be at a good height... OR you can get those "bath seats" that you just stick in the regular bath tub... but you'd have to be kneeling on the floor to bath the baby... I can see pros and cons to both... what do you guys think??

baby bath on a stand is ridiculous... ever thought about HOW you will get the bath up there????

just use the bath in the regular tub or on the floor of the shower...

i honestly think that people sit around coming up with new gadets and things to make new parents feel like they cannot get by without it...and they are raking in the millions!

couple things:

i think bebe au laits are available at B2B? I am fairly certain I saw them there before.

bath:
we only have showers, so we have a portable tub and just put it on the kitchen counter when we bathe her. when she's done, we jsut slide the "drain" part over the edge of the sink... no lifting. When we went to the states baby LOVED the regular tub. it's really not hard to kneel down there, but they do make kneeling things for mothers if you have bad knees or something.

I'm sure there will be several years of kneeling by the bath...just add it to the list of mummy aches and pains!

i bought a stand, guess i will just use a bucket to fill it. haven't thought about emptying it yet. guess i will figure out a way :)
b2b doesn't have bebe au lait. i've just ordered it directly from their homepage, they deliver to hong kong, pretty expensive though, but when i put something in my mind... anyway thanks for all the tips, kirsten.

Hi,

I am in the process of trying to decide on a stroller. I have narrowed it down to the Peg Perego P3 Classico and the Maclaren Techno XT. I live in Discovery Bay. Just looking for opinions on which is most practical to use from birth. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks!

to add more to this already eclectic forum - anyone given any though to how we are going to breastfeed in public in the winter? I usually wear long sleeve shirt under a sweater with a scarf/light jacket. The thought of pulling the whole sweater/undershirt up, exposing my tummy to the chill isn't that attractive.

I saw some long-sleeve nursing tops from www.glamourmom.com - i am wondering if those are worth the money.

Otherwise it will have to be button-down shirts through the winter?!?

any thoughts would be great!

i honestly found button down shirts more of a pain...i did the little bit of tummy exposing thing. it wasn't so bad in a place like pacific coffee/starbucks as they have the comfy chairs and with a nice cup of hot chocolate, it kind of took the chill off.

Breastfeeding in winter- I did it last year in Oz and I found the best bet was feeding singlets from H and M and then a zip up sweater. Keeps your tum warm and makes for easy access.

Bath- I used to put the baby bath on the table and fill it up using buckets (good for arm strength!) My bath has a little plug so that made emptying it back into the bucket a lot easier. Or else I just waited for hubby to get home and made him empty it. When I got my confidence up and didn't feel like I was going to break her, I started using the big bath, Mothercare has little terry toweling seats that you can put in the bath and use until they can sit by themselves.

I'm fine with mostly using the big bath - but it's just when baby's a NEWWW newborn that I'm worried that I won't be able to do it properly/safely enough in the big bath!! I dunno!! So many things to consider!!

use your kitchen sink... my mum used to bathe us in the kitchen sink when we were newborn...

besides, you could always get into the bath with the baby, if you like...

I was worried to when I first got home about all the bathing stuff. I didn't mind carting buckets of water around the place because I felt more in control with the bath on the table. Our kitchen sink isn't big enough otherwise I would definitely do it that way- ultra convenient. We can discuss this afternoon!

Our kitchen sink is this weird plasticy kind of material that NEVER seems clean, no matter how much I scrub it!! I don't think it'd be very hygienic!!

Hi mommies, just an idea about baby baths, we never used a real baby bath, instead we bought one of these plastic basins they sell in the local hk stores like japan home center. it's small enough to manage for the first few months and then we switch to bathing the babies in the regular tub after 4mths or when they are more solid. They are really inexpensive something like $30hkd

As for strollers, I am a huge fan of the Graco Edt. I love the way the bee looks but it's still quite heavy. i also had the sit and stroll - which was great for travel but not for use in hong kong b/c it's too low to the ground and the wheels are only really meant for indoor strolling. AND i have the bugaboo chameleon- which i still love but hardly use b/c i can't manage a short flight of stairs with a 20lb baby in there. Now that I have 2 babies, i have bought a phil and teds double stroller...haha i know, i know...in my attempts to 'make life easier' i have cluttered my apartment with all these strollers when in most cases, if i need to run out for a quick errand, the easiest and fastest way is to just carry both of them!! The older one on my back using the Ergo and the 4mth old in my arms...or the little one on my front in the Ergo and the Older one toddling along. I did use the graco edt for over a year tho and it was the best buy for me. it's so light and folds with one hand.

lol life with kids is never easy but it's so full of joy (and headaches) :)

sorry forgot to mention, slings are really nice in the beginning because you can hold the baby really close to you but i found they are not meant for long periods of use with a heavy baby 10lbs+ great for short errands but can get painful in the shoulder and neck after a few hours. (i had a hot sling) never tried one of those wrap it yourself ones...looked too complicated and hot for me...

haven't given baths much thought, but a friend here did buy the bath on the stand and stood it in her shower which seemed a good idea to me? (fill up, wash and empty in there).

of course, only works I guess if you have a shower separate from the bath!
