Hi,
My wifre, 2 year old son and I just arrived in HK for one year (short I know) work assignment from my company. We are from New York and ar e living in Hillsborough Ct in the midlevels.

We know absolutely no one here so I just wanted to introduce ourselves as I have been following these forums for awhile prior to our move.
We would love to meet anyone out there!

Thanks!

Also new to Hong Kong

Hi

We are also new here to Hong Kong on a 9 mth contract. Living in Parkview with our 6 month old. She may be a little young for your young child to play with though.

Firstly Welcome to HK. I know it can take quite a while to settle into HK and can feel a bit lonely at times - or it was for me when I arrived and then when I had my son and all my friends didn't have babies I felt quite cut off for a while.

There is a really good mum and baby group which meets on a Thursday at the Matilda hostiptal on the peek.

Mum and Baby is at about 10am, Mum and toddler is at 3pm and its run by a wonderful lady called Yvonne.

The Rumpus Rooms is a mother and baby/toddler play group facility in Central (link on this page) Mums meet other mums and chat while the babies play.

HKPPA has a mum and toddler group too - I don't have the details but I am sure Rani can provide them.

Good luck.

Local..be glad to be of help.

Dear Lauren,

Wellcome to HK. Hope you have started to settle in. I have been living in HK for 9 years.

My husband is local and he got "Huge" families and relatives here. I am never lonely or actually "left alone"! HAHAHAHA!

The great part is, I can get any information for anything happening in HK, from flats (when we bought ours) to shoppings and many more.

If you need any help, like getting around HK, please email me anytime. Or post your threads here. I came in quite regularly. All the best!:gl:

Hi Lauren

I am moving to HK from New York as well. We haven't found a place to live yet. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. I have 2 boys 2 yrs and 7mos. My husband will be working in Central and I have yet to find a job- any suggestions there would be appreciated too!!

Hopefully I will meet some of you at one of the mommy groups!!

Cheers

Hi,
I live in Stanley and have a 2 year old daughter as i mentioned earlier. I think the Stanley/tai tam area is a great place to live beautiful and quiet and very convenient. It’s not that far from central as my husband also works in central. Moreover the public transport is too good and its a great place to live with kids!!!

Baby CNY Party

Hi Lauren and Megan,

Welcome to Hong Kong. We are going to have a baby CNY party this Sat from 2:00-5:00pm. (4 Feb 06) And you guys are welcome to join the Party. We now have about 10 babies will come to the party (age from 1 month up to 2 years something, most are around 2 years old). Most of babies are my son?s swim?s buddies. Basically we will share all the costs of the party. If you are interested, please let me know ASAP and we can make sure have enough snack and toy for every one.

Best regards, Amanda Chen
