Hi All

I heard you can get blood tests done in HK that can use Mother's blood to do the chromosome analysis and gender determination of the baby

Please can you let me know if you have any information of which centers do this and also when is the earliest time these tests can be done

thanks a lot

Yes you may get the US equivalent, Maternity21 (here they call it SafeT21) done here at the private hospitals/clinics your OB/Gyn is affiliated with. The test (according to some friends, who have done it) here get sent to Chinese University. The test can be done as early as 10 weeks.

I did mine in the U.S. but according to the friends who have done it here you are not allowed to find out gender (based on how gender biased Chinese people can be) so my Dr. in the U.S. knows the gender (I chose not).

You can do it from 10 weeks. There are several tests offered in HK. If you do a search of the archives you'll be able to see the discussions.

My private OB offered NIFTY and Harmony for Non-Invasive-Prenatal-Testing and also OSCAR which is less sensitive (it's a different type of test) but cheaper. NIFTY and Harmony both allow you to find out the baby's sex if you want.

I did the T21 test at Baptist Hospital when I was 11 weeks (seems the earliest is 10 weeks). And I got the result after 3 days.

The BU doctor told me that my test is not done in mainland China, so I do not have to worry about it.
