hi all, our lease is up end of this year and we definitely wont be renewing so i dont want to spend any money making curtains but its getting so bright these days and son's room faces the morning son and 5ish wake ups is just not appealing!! He's room is also the hottest in the whole apt and we definitely need it to keep the afternoon sun out.

Where can I buy some black out fabric? Its a crude solution but I intend to just clip it to the existing curtains. Or if anyone has a better solution.?

I bought some of that silverish curtain lining stuff from North Point on Marble Street for $5 a metre and it works well for us. The lady even sewed the seams for me and put velcro on it for a tiny but extra. It may not keep out too much heat but definitely keeps out the light. Try out some of those little fabric stalls in street markets.

thanks! how do i say "black out curtain" or fabric in cantonese?
did you give her the measurements and she sewed it on the spot?
street markets : like Li Yuen st u mean ?

thanks to all. I went to Li Yuen streets yest and scored some black out fabric for $28 per metre. I know i could have gotten it cheaper in wanchai or the suburbs... but honestly these days, i always choose the path of least resistance.

so this info is for other mums looking for black out fabric.

i am just using cloths pegs to put them up right now...again...whatever is easiest these days..
