Birthing Options in Shenzhen

Does anyone know of birthing options available in Shenzhen? Or even HK midwife who would be willing to travel to SZ?

Please don't give birth in Shenzhen

I am afraid their hospital quality not good enough. Besides, there will be language barrier.

In fact, many Shenzhen Mammy come to Hong Kong give birth but I never heard Hong Kong Mammy give birth in SZ.

There are huge immigration problems getting babies born in China into Hong Kong. It is for this reason that no local mother would consider having a baby in Shenzhen.

I have visited a hospital in Zhong Shan a number of years ago and was very impressed with how they encourage breastfeeding and mother/baby togetherness. It showed me that it is possible not to separate the mother and baby and still keep the very strong cultural belief that the mother needs her rest.

Sorry I don?t know much about Shenzhen.

Thanks for the great responses. Because of the immigration issue, I had never considered that it was possible for a "SZ Mammy" to come to HK to deliver a baby. I live in Shekou, SZ. I'm going to investiagte this some more to see if it's possible - thanks again for the helpful words, Sarah and Crystal...

SZ mums giving birth in HK

From time to time there are articles in the newspaper complaining about "Mainland Mothers" giving birth in public hospitals in HK.

This doesn't hold true for women using private hospitals.
I believe that some hospitals like Union Hospital in Tai Wai get a lot of business from women from the mainland.

I had a former college roomate who was living in Guangzhou when she had her 2nd pregnancy. She and her DH rented a serviced apartment for the last month of her pregnancy and she and her kids stayed there until the BB was about 2 months old. Something to consider.
