birth cert issues?

I recently registered my baby and got both the long and short form birth certificates. Has anyone had any problems using them (especially overseas or at embassies) as the baby s surname only appears on the short form?

Also, have any Brits applied for the uk style birth cert you can get from the embassy here, and if so, has it been useful?

i considered getting the uk foreign birth cert (or whatever it's called) previously but was told by a consular staff member that usually only babies born in countries where the official birth certs are not issued in english might need them. i just submitted my passport application for my bub yesterday. i think once the passport comes, it's enough to convince people of my baby's surname!

Can I ask, did you just send in your baby's long form birth cert for their passport (without the surname) or did you send the short form aswell?
