Hi all,

Does anyone know where I can buy a bike (2 wheeler with training wheels) other than toys 'r us.

There is a Bike store on Pok Fu Lam Rd, its at the very start close to High Street.

Woods road in Wanchai would be the place to go, there are several bike shops there. I would advise against training wheels, the best (and safest) way to teach your child how to ride is to get the shop to remove the pedals and lower the seat, let the kid use it as a hobby horse for a while until he/she gets used to the brakes and steering. When you feel the child is ready, put the pedals back on.
 
thank you both for your help. We ended up going to the one on Pok Fu Lam Road. They were very helpful and had a good range of bikes. They got someone in who could translate for us as well.

I don't think there is a particular age. I think when they show an interest in other big kids bikes and learn to pedal. My three year old is ready but a friends three year old shows no interest.

Personally, like in most things, let the child guide you.

Thanks for the great link Yaffle!

D is definitely interested in bikes and he's tried to ride a couple in the playground but he can't pedal. Think we'll wait for his 3rd bday.
