Beware of Playsport!

I've joined the mini sports class for feb 2012, Play sports have delayed the classes twice, i was informed only two hours before the class begins. Today I didn't get his msg, and i thought the class will resume, but of course he didnt show up, and i realized it was a scam when *i also met a few other parents who joined play sports. One of the parent tried to file the complaint at a police station, but the police was rude and reluctant, and didn't even want to open the file. So I've just spoke with a friend, he was the chief superintendent of police. He suggested that we should gather as many ppl as we could and together, we go to consumer council to file the complaint this week. He said the police usually won't do this since they don't have time to investigate individual cases. If we have many ppl together filing the complaint at consumer council, which also means we have enough evidence, consumer council will probably refer us to the commercial criminal investigation department. He said CC will put pressure, and the police will definitely need to investigate for sure! I would like to know if anyone would like to join?

I am in for a group action. I signed my daughter up for tennis at Clearwater Bay School with this company in January. The class was 'postponed due to matters out with Play Sport's control'. I have contacted CWBS and discovered that the facilities there were never booked to begin with. I have to keep them informed of all follow-up.

Like everyone else, the office number is transferred to a mobile number with a full mailbox, and no response via email or text message. Ahhhh!

I have also emailed Geobaby regarding this thread as this company is listed in their directory.

Please let me know where, when and how I can make a group action to get my money back and get this company closed down. It sounds like there is no point in me pursuing a police report.

Also, I plan to write to each sponsor on their website and bring this thread, and my own story, to their attention. I wouldn't be at all surprised if they are not sponsors at all and their logos have just been downloaded and used to try and authenticate the site.

Happened to us as well!! Nobody showed up and the little one we disappointed. This gotta stop! He is still running the website as normal; sending out messages and emails chasing for course fee and delaying classes as if everything is on going until today! That is horrible. That money is alot for us and no parents should pay Joe for his vacations.

The website needs to be shut down before more people get into his trap!
I will file my police report as well and post the police number here asap.
 
Hi Audrey, I've PM you already, Selayw...are you interested to join us if we will file the complaint next week?! Like I said in the last msg, I don't think the police will treat "individual" cases seriously, that was our experience.

I have noticed at the bottom if PlaySport website. The website has been designed by a company called 'flyingtigerwebdesign' the guy that operates the company is a guy called Steve could we contact him to get the website taken down. I wonder if he knows he designed a website for a fraudulent company.

Let's fix a date and time. Hopefully more parents could come and join us on that day.

About the webdesign company....I think it's better not to make any contact on our own. Leave it to the police or CC decide what needs to be done.
 
if anyone on here writes chinese, you should also post something on baby-kingdom... then you'd reach a possible 500,000 chinese parents, too.
 
This morning I went to the Western Police Station to report this case, the case no. is 12003272. If we want to use group pressure, we have to file the report to the same police station and refer to the same case no (database of each police station is operating separately, they don't normally share individual case with other police stations). You can also call the police station at 2859-4200 to report your case. At the same time, as suggested by other victims, we have to file a complaint to the Consumer Council.
 
Hi Selayw, as we are planning on a group report, which is more powerful (according to ex-police officers, police are too busy to just handle one or two cases individually, so the officers also suggested to go in a group.) I can't believe so many people are victims of Playsports. I am really upset about this, I was so looking forward for my child to join the mini-sports. We actually turned up last Saturday after they postponed and postponed, and at one time, they texted at 6:45am in the morning on the day of the class to say it is cancelled. We have not even have one class, it was supposed to be in the Australian International School.

I wish I had read this thread a few weeks earlier. I've been cheated in the same way by Play Sport. I'll file the case at Western Police Station like you guys. - question: is it possible to file the case online rather than go down to the station personally?

Ive also received the same cancellation notices at the beginning of this term, and a no-show this past Saturday. My two kids' lessons were supposed to be at Bradbury School, who confirmed to me today that Play Sport never rented their premises for this term at all!! This is clearly fraud! The proprietor Joey Livesey should be arrested!

Just now, I had someone visit their office as posted on the website. They have already moved out on 6 Feb, according to the caretaker of the building. I think the Police is the only resort for us, and I doubt we will be able to get my money back - I enrolled two kids, so it's double-whammy for me!
