Best place to shop

I am due in late February and will begin baby shopping this weekend. It would be nice if you could tell me the best places to shop in HK for baby stuff. Where can I find good bargains?

It all depend on what you are looking for. I did mine mostly from Jasco, Wing Onn, street markets and Asia Xpat Trading post. My baby was born in February too but this year.

eugene has lots of choices for all kinds of baby stuff (imported things). they have several shops in hk, too. i just don't like the service.
i go to fa yuen street in mong kok from time to time. they have brand-name clothing for babies for very reasonable prices!

I think it depends on what you are looking for. If you want a one-stop shop, then Eugene is not bad - their showroom in MegaBox is bigger but stock-wise, you can find almost all the same stuff in their Central store. Mothercare is also a good place to shop for baby stuff (as well as prenatal things). Bumps to Babes is always fun - there's a smaller store in Peddar Building in Central and a bigger one in Ap Lei Chau.

Jusco dpt store in Taikooshing is popular for local mothers and moms-to-be, and sometimes they offer good discounts on baby stuff (that's where I bought my Combi high/rocking chair there and some baby bottles etc.). I'm told you can find the most Combi stock in BeBe Dream in TST Ocean Terminal - although I haven't been there myself.

i did buy a lot of those onesies at Stanley. all the basics i got from mothercare, bumps to babes & Eugene. you can also get the stuff for yourself from eugene. especially those disposable bed linings for post delivery to protect your beddings.

Eugene - central, above H&M on Queen's Road Central.
Mothercare - central - prince's Bldg, Causeway Bay - Lee Gardens 2.

plus, i heard that there's an outley for baby's stuff in Causeway Bay, on Heng Lung Bldg, above SaSa next to Windsor House. But i've never been.

Just a quick comment about baby clothes. All my friends have warned me NOT to go overboard on buying stuff like baby clothes, blankets, etc. as you will most likely be getting a lot of these as gifts during the baby shower or when they come to visit you post-birth. Also bubs will outgrow v. quickly the clothes you get for the first six months and since you will probably be home most of that time, some of the clothes probably won't get worn at all. (Plus you will have friends who will want to give you their - barely used - newborn clothing too!)

This is my first (due March) and so far we've just focused on getting the big-ticket items like the stroller, crib etc.

a shop in Causeway Bay

I found a shop in Causeway Bay today (baby-station). It sells some cute and fancy goods which is not common in other shops here. e.g. Bella Tunno, pediped, BabyLegs, penny scallan...etc.

The shops in Stanley Market don't have individual names....there are just loads of baby shops selling nothing but baby and kids clothes. It's all international brands (stuff made for export) and it's very reasonable.

I agree...it's best not to go overboard buying for a newborn. Our little one grew out of clothes so fast when he was tiny that some he didn't even get to wear!
From about six months we started buying more things that would last.

Yes it's situated in a commercial building. I just read from their namecard: "Room B, 17/F, Capitol Centre Tower 2, 28 Jardine's Crescent, Causeway Bay" . The entrance is next to "Watsons". I saw many brands as in US.
Shawn, is "baby-station" the name of the store? Do you happen to have the address for the store? Thanks!
