Hi Everyone,

Looking for recommendations for the best DVDs for a 6 month old... preferably ones that will still be interesting to her as she gets older!

Blues' Clues? Sesame Street? Baby Einstein? Curious George?

Thanks in advance!!!

My LO liked Sesame Beginnings which is Sesame St for babies. Of course, you are aware that there is a lot of debate about whether children under 2 or 3 years old are harmed by watching TV!

I showed my son Baby Einstein when he was that little. Actually he wasn't really interested in watching TV at all (now he's requesting it every day, all day, at nearly 2 yrs old). The Baby Einstein are easy for the little ones to watch, and interesting too.
When he got a bit older (12 months), he loved watching something with music. He also started to get into Elmo (still his best friend).

Yes, we just started with Baby Einstein, but at 6 months my son had no interest in TV. He really only started watching at 12+ months and we contined with Baby Einstein and he loved Cbeebies.

Thanks all. I am aware of the debate surrounding TV, but I don't think 10-15 mins a day could hurt, especially if it's something educational. It's not like I'm exposing my daughter to 45 mins of CSI :)

Has anybody watched Blues' Clues?

My son LOVED and still loves Blue Clues and he's almost 3.

We watched TV as kids and we turned out fine - do want works. TV is great too when you are on your flight home too. For us, 19 hours is LONG and so tv is a nice break for all.

I think the difference is that when we were kids, there was no Baby Einstein or other TV directed at babies so we probably wouldn't have been too interested! I let my LO watch TV for 20 minutes a day from when he was 9 months old and I do sometimes regret it. It has been an almost daily battle (whining, tantrums, etc) since he could talk as he wants more and more TV. If left up to him, he could watch TV for 3 hours a day. His TV addiction is a huge plus on the plane though! I let him watch as much as he wants on our flights back from Canada.

the shows and movies my daughter watched/liked/still watches at 2.5

They Might Be Giants DVDs (here comes science, 123s, abcs)
Wonder Pets
Toot and Puddle
Mickey Mouse Clubhouse
Yo Gabba Gabba
Sesame Street
Pinky Dinky Doo
Bugs Bunny

We've shown her a variety over the last few years in short spurts. Almost all of these are available on itunes, for really young ones I highly recommend the TMBG, as it's mostly music with a few puppets in between the songs for intro.
