Best Baby Carriers for HK

Which style did you use for a new born? How young did you start using your Baby Bjorn from? I'd rather carry than use a pram/ stroller but am a bit lost as to what type of carrier for newborn?

I also prefer to carry than to use stroller... In fact, we have bought a stroller, and still haven't used it. We have a Snugli baby carrier and we have used it since birth (baby is now 7 week old, and the first time we used it he was 6 day old). I just carry the baby facing me.

I think it's safer to use a Baby Bjorn. My wife used the a Mesh summer version when we were in HK last summer.

In my opinion, baby slings are dangerous and not very comfortable for the baby. We tried to use a babasling when our second child was born last May but found it covered her face and she looked uncomfortable. We switched to the Mesh Baby Bjorn as soon as she reached the minimum weight.

Here's a safety warning issued last Friday.

Infant Deaths Prompt CPSC Warning About Sling Carriers for Babies

The baby bjorn is hard on your back--it's not very suitable for people with any sort of back issue. I found it extremely uncomfortable and painful to use. We're going for the Ergo this time around.

I have a BECO carrier too, the new Gemini. Was going to get the Performance Ergo, but went for the BECO instead.

You can carry the baby on your back, hip and front (both facing you and facing out). I researched it and found it has good ratings - though not as many as the Ergo (but to be fair, the Ergo I noticed is sold EVERYWHERE). As oi0io mentions, the BECO is more stylish and ordering directly from their US website, cost similar if not less than the Performance Ergo.

I really like the BECO Gemini. My only complaint would be the strings used for the infant head support. Straps may be more comfortable. Otherwise, great carrier!
