Bassinets

I was thinking of getting a bassinet instead of a crib for our baby-to-come since we have a space constraint in the flat and can just wheel the bassinet from our room into the living room during the day. I was wondering if any moms here have used bassinets before as the babies primary bed - how long can we use them for before the babes outgrow them? and any place in HK that sells them for reasonable prices?

Sorry for dumb questions - I am a first time mommy to be. :)

Thanks.

We got a bassinet. Used it for almost 4 months. Loved it! It was so convenient to push around the house and it was right beside me at night for nursing. We got ours from the baby store near Tsan Yuk Hospital - Ah Chi Co. Cost was $3xx. It's listed in the GeoBaby directory.

i used one too. it was very good but it only lasted us 3 mths. so if you can, borrow one. if it's just $3xx, it's OK. but the ones I see on the market or usually $1000+. I got mine as a gift.

Rani,
What is the best way to get to Ah Chi Co from Tung Chung?
Also would you recommend this place for playpens and other baby furniture?

Thanks as always. :)

This little store has everything! If you're not fussed about brands and looking for a bargain, this store is for you. I remember seeing the same Mothercare highchair I had for half the price.

From Central, you can either hop on the tram or bus/taxi. You need to get off at around 239 Queen's Rd West and walk up Eastern St. The shop is on the slope. If you take the tram, get off at 178 Des Voeux Rd West.

You can map it here

The shop is open til 8:30pm at night.

THey haven't sold bassinets on wheels for a LONG TIME, we bought their only bassinet and they are ordering more. It costs $570 not $3xx. They only take cash.

Thanks for the update - did you like their selection of other gear (strollers, high chairs, playpens etc.)??

Thanks again. :)

I didn't look at them properlyu but their prices seem very reasonable compared to retail shops. There was a choice of stollers, and the baby clothese were reasonably priced. I saw lots of bottles too.
