hi all, my baby is approaching his 6 month vaccination due date. prior to this his vaccinations were in aus. what is the process to get vaccs here? where do i go, and any recommendations around olympic??
We go to our nearest government mchc (mother child health clinic). If you do a search you'll find a list of them and the areas each one serves, it also has a list of the hk vax schedule which may be different to australia.
You could also just go to a private doctor but at the mchc they're free
thanks Aquarian, that's very helpful. I am currently waiting for my sons visa to clear then i will make a booking. i had no idea you could get a free service in hong kong for this sort of thing!
thanks for the tips. unfortunately it was an awful outing for me. after making the appointment and finally arriving at the nearest clinic (which was quite difficult to get to) I was told that because my sons visa expires within 6 months I could not obtain the free service offered. I figured for the amount they wanted to charge .. around $650 I may be better off going to see a private dr? any recommendations?
How strange. I've never been asked about my baby's visa or shown his passport. Are you on a tourist visa?
As for the price, it would depend what was included, but it's still probably cheaper than private. My ped charges $600 per visit and the vaccinations cost extra.
$650 is cheap...our quality health doc charges $300/visit and vaccines are around the $700 and up mark...now im trying to track down the 4in1(DtaP/IPV, its given here in HK at primary level) vaccine for my sons 4 yr old (aus sched) and was told they did not have it in their whole network..so just called a pead in HK island and she charges about 800/visit plus 800 for the vaccine
Both of my kids go to Dr. Steve Wong in Central. We took all their shots there. He is very patient and caring to the kids and gives advice to parents too. Let me know if you want to check it out and I can provide you with his address.
Just found out there is already a review for Steve Wong and I checked the address is correct. I strongly recommend you to call his clinic first instead of just walk-in. Good luck! Dr Steve Wong - Hong Kong GeoBaby
