Baby sitter?????

Have just moved to HK with our 9 mth baby.....and would of course like to be able to get out and about a few nights a week. Borrowed a helper last Sat night from 7pm to 1:30am and pd her $500. At that rate we will only be able to go out once a week! Any suggestions on how to play it. I would say we will have about 15 hrs per week nights....what would be a reasonable deal/ hrly rate??? Currently living in a a serviced apt for 2 mths until we find a place (and then will look for a full time helper as definitely more cost effective!) so really the only thing they will be doing is the ironing a whilst watching TV.....

Thoughts on how I should approach this much appreciated

I pay my part-time helper HK$60 per hour for babysitting. She tends to do some of the ironing while she babysits too which means she doesn't have to come in for as long on the days she usually works for me. If she works past midnight, I usually pay for a cab home for her too.

Hope that helps!

THanks Zoe, $60 HK seems to be the go then, of course if home late then a few extra bucks / taxi is warranted

Our helper costs $80 an hour- but she's a local Chinese woman, also helps with the everyday chores. Unfortuately for us, she's got a grandchild herself that she has to take care of, so we're also on the look out for another baby-sitter/helper
