Baby not growing! :(

hi mommies/daddies.... does your LO's growth stagnates after certain age? I noticed my 1yo girl has not been growing that much since 6mo, she used to be on the 50th percentile and has recently slipped to 10th percentile :( looking at her chart, she has only grown 1cm since 9mo and has been slow in gaining weight too. She is fully breastfed and takes on solid well. What could be wrong?? Her docs have never raised any concerns but i would like to seek second opinion. Is there any feeding specialist? or if anyone has any good pead to recommend, we definitely appreciate it.

Our girl is otherwise healthy, active, happy and very interactive with people and her environment.
 
What did your doctor say when you asked them? I know babies grow in fits and starts so maybe she's just going through a quiet phase?

I was in a similar situation. My baby boy was like 75 percentile when he was born. I fully breastfed him, and at some point he went to 5 percentile in weight (he was a little bit higher on length). My private doctor suggested me, at some point, to give him formula, but the nurses and doctors from the MCHC and public hospital (where he goes due to eczema) gave me full support and confidence in breastfeeding, so i continued doing so till he was 2 year old. The doctor told me that I should not worry too much about the percentile, as long as the baby is active and healthy. He said that probably he was just a small size baby after all, or might catch up later.

Anyway, my boy weight in percentile went slowly up since he started solid. Now he is 2 1/2 year old and his percentile is around 50 (i think... i don't really check too much anyway)

I think if you are really concern, you might try complementing with formula. I never did cause my baby has eczema and might have allergy to cow milk and "other stuff" found on baby formula. And also cause I wasn't too concerned about my baby weight (although I used to heard comments from my mom about how skinny my baby was, how my breast milk was not good, and blah blah blah.....)
 
thanks Gataloca for sharing, i'm so happy to hear that i'm not alone in this. I'm feeling really bad, not sure if it has anything to do with my breast milk. In my girl's case, her growth slowed down when she started solids. Her pead said it was normal as baby is getting mobile and burning more energy and all. I have just started her on fm as i planned to wean her off soon. So let's see how it goes, i hope she will at least get back to 50 percentile in terms of weight and height. Both me and hubby have average height, so i'm not expecting her to hit anything above that. :)
 
just remember this:

50% means that 1/2 of kids are smaller and 1/2 of kids are bigger.... so, really doesnt mean much. if your child is happy, energetic, sleeping etc, THAT is what is important... not how big your child is! there are different sized adults and there are different sized kids. unless the doctor sees a problem, don't worry about it!
 
Carang - thanks, yes i'm well aware that the numbers are just statistic and size doesn't matter as long as our lil one is happy and healthy. Having said that, we want to ensure that there are no underlying health issues that may affect her growth.
