Has anyone had luck with their baby monitors? If so, could you recommend the brand/model, and suggest where to buy it?

Thanks. :)

Definitely goes for Oregon Scientific, it is a little more expensive than the others (around HKD800) but it works very well and they are also very handy. I had both Chicco and Philips, but both didn't works in our place.

I can't recommend a particular brand as have'nt started looking at them yet but when I had my son 7 years ago I found the following features useful on my monitor.

Room temperature
2 different frequencies in case someone nearby has the same as you.
Motion sensitive mat. Not sure what these are called exactly, but they sense the babies movements. They can sometimes go off mistakenly if baby rolls off the mat but I found it great for putting my mind at ease.
Light indicator for sound. This was particularly useful if baby was just murmuring and I was trying to watch tv I would switch the sound off and just watch the indicators.
Parent handset that works from battery so that you do not always have to be next to a plug socket.

There is a monitor in bumps to babes which has all these features but how good it is I don't know.

Not sure if this is of any help, happy hunting.

We use Angelcare, which also has the motion sensitive mat (which we didn't end up using, but I feel it's still a good feature to have). Been using the monitor everyday for over 3 years, and still going strong. We have brought it with us to hotels and other places. Very clear sound, no static. We got ours at Eugene Club.

We bought a Tommee Tippee set of monitors from B2B - around HKD800 - and they are brilliant, the best thing I like is that they show the room temperature. Before having a baby I didn't know how important it was to see how hot/cold the baby's room is. Good luck!

Another great product for checking room temp is the Grobag Egg. It changes color depending on the room temp. Yellow is the ideal temp, blue is too cold and Orange/Red is warm.

Angelcare is good - we've used ours for tthe last 2 years. Only problem is the movement sensor doesn't work if you have a ceiling fan on in the room.
