I'd like to sign up for a first aid course to cover baby basics (especially choking). I know there are a few available, has anyone attended one they would recommend?

Hi, i've been looking for the same especially since baby has just started solids!

I went to Yvonne's antenatal classes which were very good. But her CPR classes are in Pokfulam which is so far from Sai Kung.

Just had a thought, but wondering if there's enough interest to get 6 people together for a private class this side of town?
Sorry about the mini hijack of this thread Aquarian :p

Actually I'm in TKO so Sai Kung would be a lot more convenient for me than pokfulam....

As for numbers it would definitely be me plus husband (plus baby). I'm not sure if others are interested.

We have a couple of places left for a Paediatric First Aid course in July conducted by The Family Zone.

Date - Saturday 13th July
Time - 1:45 to 5:45pm
Cost - $800 per person + function room hire (Approx $80 per person)
Location: Tseung Kwan O

Please PM me for more details if interested.

Hi, was wondering if you still have 2 places available at the TKO course - we live in TKO, have a 10 month old baby and would like to join.

The one at Annerley was excellent.
This was a bit ago - but the one I attended was by a no-nonsense Canadian who had worked as a paramedic. Very practical stuff on choking, drowing, CPR, when to call 999, hands-on instruction, etc. A bit scary, but very useful. I thought so highly of it that I took notes and then taught the basics to my husband and helper. And I'm thinking of bringing my helper w. me for a refresher course.

Don't confuse First Aid / CPR courses with generic antenatal classes, which may be different, and cover everything from prengnacy to labor techniques. I took a TERRIBLE antenatal class from what I thought was well-regarded expat name. (I'm not going to name and shame here). It was basically a two-day rant against the HK medical establishment and a sales pitch for natural birth. Actually I am FOR natural birth, but I didn't want to be lectured. And there was very little hard medical advice, and no first aid or babycare element. So be careful what you choose.
