Baby Documents for Foreign Parents

Hello Dear All,

Both my husband and I are US citizens, and currently living in mainland China. We are giving birth to our child in October in HK private hospital. Does anyone know if our child can get HKID? Or what documents we need to obtain after birth in order to exit HK and enter mainland China?

Hello, congratulations on your upcoming bundle of joy.

Once your baby is born you will need to apply for a birth certificate, passport and China visa.

Am assuming you are entering HK on tourist visas? Your child is not eligible for and ID card.
