Baby check-ups

Hi. Just wondering if there's anywhere to get baby weighed and measured to check with progress? Or do I need to take him to his pediatrician for that?? Do you think it's important to continue checking his weight after 8 months old?

honestly - as long as he's gaining weight and looks healthy, I wouldn't go to the clinic, but perhaps do it at home on your own (weigh yourself and baby, then only weigh yourself). i normally get my daughter checked when she goes in for your immunization shoots, and they will have a chart to track her growth - I personally think that is good enough...

You can also take him/her to Annerley and they will weigh and measure your baby. They have a nice morning playgroup where you can go for a couple hours and their specialists are onsite to answer all your questions. I went in when I needed some help with breastfeeding and they observed me and my baby, and then later on for her to play while I spoke to the experts there about schedules. I think it's something like 160 a session.

If doctors and/or malpractice attorneys thought you needed more frequent checks, we would all know about it.

I get my baby weighed and measured every time I take him for immunization shoots. As long as he puts on weight and shows signs of growing, I won't take him for 'extra checkup'. My boy is 11 months and he is due to receive his one-year-old shot soon, then he will be weighed and measured.

my bub gets weighed and measured when he goes in for his shots too. next one is when he turns 1!

he has lost weight after his 9-month but i'm not too worried about that as he crawls EVERYWHERE, naps lesser hours and has the similar apetite as before.

have you got the immunisation record sorted out for your bub?

Yes, I've got a card recording all the immunisation and a card showing what shoots a bub needs. And, I go to the same GP for the shots and he's pretty goods he will remind me what's the next shoot.

sorry jess, that question was for lisa.
i wanted to suggest her to get bub's shots and growth development checked according to that record......

Yep he has his shots done and his growth charts. :) I just wondered if it was necessary to get his growth checked between his last shot at 7 months and his next shot at 1 year old. Seems like most people think it's not important :) His weight has kind of gone up and down a fair bit since birth.

You can always weigh him yourself. You can stand on the scales yourself, first without your baby and then with your baby and calculate the difference.

Also if you sign up for any Well Baby Clinics packages at the Canossa/Adventist you can go in at anytime to speak to the nurses and weigh baby
