Baby Blankets

I'm totally confused about blankets. With my first born in march and summer quickly upon us I hardly needed anything. But now I'm due in November end and worried about the winter months (particularly jan/feb)

Any recommendations on what type and where to buy baby blankets from ? Also what about essential clothes during the first 3 months ?

Thanks

Try getting a baby sleeping bag (Grobag) for your baby. They come in different sizes and togs (thickness). You can get them at Mothercare or Bumps to Babes. My son has been using them since he was 6 months old. He is 2 now and is still using them. You don't have to worry that your baby will kick the blanket away at night and the bag is designed so that your baby could still do all the turns and flips while he/she sleeps. :o)

I agree, babies love Grobags because they are all snuggled-up. My son has always slept in a Grobag, he likes it so much we've had to buy the extra large size from the UK - for 3 year olds!

Thanks everyone, but I'm really not keen on a grobag. I prefer to swaddle. My first born kept jerking himself awake with hands flying all over the place. He slept well swaddled. Since it was summer I used light muslin to swaddle him but maybe that won't be sufficient during the winter months for baby no.2 ?

When my baby was a newborn we used a receiving blanket to swaddle him in the first week just like at the hospital, but soon after he would always fight to get out of it and preferred to sleep with his arms outstretched. After that, we used cotton cellular blankets (bought at Mothercare) and they are large enough to double up and still be safely tucked into the cot. The weather only gets cold for a very short time, so maybe you can also add layers to baby's clothes, or alternatively use a small heater for baby's room.

My baby is due late Oct. Thinking what blanket/ sleeping bag to buy to wrap baby out from hospital. If Grobag is not suitable for newborn under 10 lbs, should I buy another blanket/ wrap? If so, which brand and what fabric would you recommend? Thanks!
