I have heard rumours that there is an aussie butcher in sai kung who is very good and reasonably priced. Has anyone heard of him and can they give me the address? What is his meat like and what is the pricing like?

many thanks

Muriel

Aussie meat in Hang Hau

Hi Muriel,

I think the butcher you have heard about is TC Deli (or TC meats - cannot remember the name) in Hang Hau Village. So it's closer to Hang Hau and Clearwater Bay than it is Sai Kung...

It's wonderful. I go there every 2 weeks or so to get meat, fish and a variety of other goodies like Turkish bread and cheeses.

It's reasonably priced for Hong Kong... so definitely not cheap, but I don't mind paying for quality. I find it's a little bit more expensive than the supermarket for meat that is far superior in quality.

Car / taxi is the easiest way to get there, but I would think you could reach it from Hang Hau MTR station with a minimum of fuss. It's not quite walking distance from the MTR - you could either get a minibus or a taxi and the drive would be about 3-4 minutes. It's in Hang Hau VILLAGE not the Hang Hau area around the MTR station and shops.

It's worth the effort.

Oh how exciting!!!!

I live a long way from Sai Kung but would even consider a special trip for the chance to get some of those goodies!

Do they do real Australian sausages?

Yes - real Australian sausages.

And fantastic Angus steak. And rack of lamb. And lamb rump (highly recommended on the BBQ). And many other great cuts.

I know some people travel from the island with their eskies and take them back full.
