August 2011!

Hi ladies - we are trying to meet up next week again so it would be great if you could make it. It's looking to be 5th March in Kowloon, meeting place tbc. Send me a personal message if you can come along! :)

Count me in for the 5th!

I'm so glad someone else felt a movement, I wasn't sure but it's happened a few times in the last week, very difficult to explain, thought I was going mad!

Have done my amnio last monday. All is doing well though I was stressed. It's a girl! Count me in for the 5th

Hi ladies,

I am due for number 2 on the 17th of August and would love to meet you all sometime.

I have a 2.4 year old daughter who I had here through the public system and number two will also be through the public system.

Not sure if I can make the 5th but will keep an eye on the thread and let you know closer to the date.

We just moved to DB beginning of February, came from Germany. Have a 9 months old son who likes to meet other Babys, while the mums can exchange experiences of life in Hong Kong. Anyone interested? Hope to hear from somebody! Sabine

I'd love to meet up on the 5th, I only moved to HK last Saturday though so will have my 2yr 9mth old son with me as havent sorted out any pre-school for him. So if everyone is ok with me bringing him then let me know where and when and I'll be there. I may not stay a long time though because if its a coffee shop he'll get bored, but would be nice to come and meet some other mums and mums to be x

Hi there

I am due with no.2 on Sept 1st. So not sure whether to join your group or the September group! I joined a due date group last pregnancy, which was very useful and a great excuse to have lunch every fortnight! However groups are usually for 3 months -i.e. July to September, as most women give birth early or later than their actual due date anyway.

Let me know if you're planning to meet up - I live pretty centrally so can organise a lunch very easily if you guys are up for it.

Harsha

My baby was feeling shy this week at the ultrasound... so we couldn't tell if it's a boy or a girl. Gotta wait for the structural scan on the 15th now...

Hi All, I live in Park Island, Ma Wan and am due on 10 August as well. I am also seeing Dr. Lam in Central who has been really good. I haven't heard of anyone else using her before so it's great to know that somebody else is. It's my first pregnancy and I will be going public too. At the moment, my appointments are at Princess Margaret. But I have heard bad things about delivering there and am hoping to get a transfer - either to Pamela Youde where a friend of mine has just given birth or Queen Mary which I know is hard to transfer to if you don't live in the area!

I'm originally from the UK but have lived in HK for nearly 3 years. My husband and I don't know that many people in Park Island itself and do not currently have a helper but will be looking for a part-time helper, hopefully that lives on Park Island, for when the baby arrives!

The nausea and tiredness have been awful for me so far but I am really hoping it will start to get better now i'm 17 weeks as work is a real struggle at the moment... It's really nice to chat to others going through the same things.

Hello everyone! I had a really nice time meeting you today! We decided to meet again in Shatin next month. Let's meet in Shatin New Town Plaza Stage 1 Starbucks (I think it's the 2nd floor- the same level as the MTR and next to the UCC coffee shop) on Saturday April 2nd at 2:00. Message me if you'd like more instructions on how to get there or where it is. After a chat and some coffee we can go take a look at the many baby and maternity shops! Hope to see you then!

I'll be there on April 2nd, as close to 2pm as I can make it after work. Hope to see you all there x

It's a GIRL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I 'm so excited I couldn't sleep last night! Yay!!!!

How did everyone find their 20 week scan? I had mine today and was really disappointed. I didn't see the whole body profile in the picture, I'm sure with my first I got a picture with the whole body in it. So today I saw each part, but separately. The face, then in another - the arms, then another - the legs. What with me being here my family in the UK wanted to see the pictures but I don't have anything worth showing them. How did everyone find theirs? I'm tempted to go somewhere else to get another one done but don't want to do it if I'm just gonna get the same...

Mine was the same but I think it's because the baby is now too big to fit the whole on the screen at the same time. If you want a clearer scan why don't you wait a few weeks then get a 3D one done? They're really clear and I'm sure your family back in the UK would love to see one with the facial features.

Thanks, yeah I'm thinking about doing that, he did show some 3d parts today (its face) but I thought it just looked really odd, he said there was an arm or umbilical cord over its face.

I was so looking forward to this scan and just feel so disappointed with it now, also I didn't even see 2 legs, I think I saw 1 leg but it wasn't very clear. I think being back in the UK you actually have a sonographer do the scan and this is all they do all day long so they seemed better than the doctor I saw today, maybe he doesn't do it as often...

I think I will get a 3d scan in a few weeks

At least you got pictures! At the public hospital they won't even let you take photos of the printed pictures that they keep. We asked specifically and they said, no, because it's their medical records and they wouldn't let us take pictures of other things in the medical file either. I was like... uh, actually it's MY medical records....
But my husband was very clever... During the scan (about 20 min.) the technition pulled a curtain around me separating my husband and I for some reason, and he was able to stand right on the other side of the curtain and record the entire video with his cell phone! haha so he's got the video anyhow, but still, it's kind of hard to make out what we were looking at most of the time. I did get a really clear shot of the baby's big nose, just like mine! :)

Alright, so for anyone who is hoping to come to Shatin Starbucks this Saturday, (see my previous post) I have long dark blonde curly hair and I will wear big red barrettes to be easily spotted! :) P.M. me if you need my phone number. Hope to see some of you there!

Hope to see you all there on Saturday.
Congrats on gender news tsubasa!!
Cathryn, welcome to HK! Hope you're settling in ok.
x
