At what age could your baby lift his/her head?

You should really add a poll to this post, I think. It would be interesting to find out that way.

For our son, he could hold his head up and look around from birth. I was just watching a video clip today of him as a newborn and was amazed that yeah, he really had very good neck control at that point--seems like forever ago that he was that small, though.

Hahaha, I don't know how to add a poll :)

My baby (10 weeks now) is relatively ok with holding her head up when I lift her, but during tummy time, she likes to one side and doesn't lift her head 45/90 degrees. What she does is to burrow her face, and rubs it on the mattress, then settles on one side. If I hold her flat on my laps, then she is able to lift her head. Normal?

My 9 week old baby is the same. She rubs her face on her rug and licks it. On my lap she does 'push ups' and lifts her head well. At her 8 week check up the pediatrician commented that her head control was very good, so I guess it's normal!

my son could lift his head and turn it by 2/2.5 months as he slept on his tummy since around 2 months because of reflux. as a result, his back and neck muscles were extremely strong

Mine were late head-lifters as they both slept on their backs and hated tummy time, but could balance their heads when carried upright by about 12 weeks.
