Are you using a baby mattress protector?

I just entered the cot world, and I am wondering what people use to protect their mattresses in their baby cots. My son`s diaper has been known to leak, then there is the one off(or more) cases of bed vomit. Soon he will leave his baby hammock, which has a foam mattress, with a cover and then a sheet, to sleep in a cot.
I saw those Pampers disposable mattress protectors but it says it`s for children - is there some reason I can`t use them for my baby`s bed? I don`t want to use anything waterproof.
What are you all using?

I am using Hippychick mattress protector but I am not sure if they sell them in Hong Kong.

see Hippychick. Postage to Hong Kong is 8 pounds (HK$100)

We use ones that I purchased from Spotlight in Megabox (after searching EVERYWHERE for them). They are a fitted sheet (much like what the PP has provided a link for) but have plastic backing so the whole mattress is covered. I have three for the cot and have purchased two for the bed and another two for when DD2 goes into her bunk bed.

I just found that everything else didn't give enough coverage or moved under the sheets.

We didn't want to use anything water proof either (bub was also in a baby hammock before the cot). So I bought a pure wool mattress protector / puddle pad (like a thin, tightly woven blanket) which repels water extremely well and is natural.

It's proved to be just as good as anything plastic backed with no spillage onto the mattress at all.

I bought it from a US website as I was buying a natural latex mattress, but I'm sure you must be able to get them here. There's a bedding shop in Ocean Terminal that does natural bedding (can't remember the name), maybe even a normal bedding shop would carry them?

If you do decide to go for the hippychick, here is the direct link. Fitted Mattress Protector (Cot)

In your basket, select Hong Kong as the "Delivery Country" and click "update basket". Delivery cost should change to 8 pounds.

Also bear in mind that some cot mattresses in Hong Kong are smaller than UK standard size. (100cm x 50cm instead of 120cm x 60cm.)

I bought a plastic mattress protector at Mothercare. It is fitted and I put it on my mattress first before I put my cotton fitted sheet on top.

Shenzhennifer - I put the plastic on the mattress and then I put a sheet on top so the baby is not sleeping on the plastic, but rather on the cotton sheet. the plastic is very thin (not sure if breathable or not) so i haven't found it to be a problem. I do turn on the air conditioner for my son though because he really can't stand the heat.

I ended up buying one from IKEA, but I was in a big rush, I didn`t look at it enough. I brought it home and realised that it was rubber on one side, and so I`m a bit hesitant about using it. Anyway, he has rejected his cot at night so far so I won`t have to use it for a while, hehe!
