Applying for a British passport in HK - what docs and how long?

Hi, I'm planning to pop over to the British Consulate tomorrow to submit a new passport application for my bub. I'm wondering if the following docs are sufficient:
Baby's long form HK birth cert
My long form British birth cert
Marriage certificate
My British passport (and my husband's just in case)

I can already guess it's going to take weeks to turn around. What I'd like to know is how long I should expect to linger in the consulate. Will there be a ton of people in there?

Thanks!

Thanks, rani!

I would mail the application if it was a renewal but I don't feel comfortable sending in all my original docs and passport.

I just found this twit from @UKinHongKong
"Reminder: Please note that the British Consulate-General #HongKong will close at 1415 tomorrow 1 February http://bit.ly/Y2zDHB"

Better get down there this month

The British Consulate General is changing the way we handle passport applications. With effect from 1 March 2013 we will only accept passport applications by post. Read more.

Ok, I managed to get in just before 10am today and had to hang around until noon. I did not know I had to surrender my mobile in the lobby otherwise I would have brought along a book. What a boring wait! Yes, those who are a bit hesitant to post their original docs for a first time passport better get their applications in before March. On the plus side though, you won't have to wait ages just to drop it off at the counter.
