My Dr is recommending an injection of methotrexate, to help speed up the reabsorbtion of an miscarried ectopic pregnancy.
Anyone had this done? What were your side effects?
This drug is for cancer treatment, so it scares the crap out of me.

hi matty,

i had methotrexate for ectopic pregnancy 2 years ago. i already injected it 3 times when i found out that it is for cancer treatment. so far, everything went well and i have a 6 month old daughter now.
for the side effects, as far as i can remember, i only felt dizziness and nausea. i think no vomitting.
hope this helps :)

3 years ago I had a DNC and they found a placenta increta (grown into the uterus wall). Since they could not scrap it out without causing damage, I had to have Methotrexate injections for a whole month....Luckily after two weeks I could switch to the tablet form of it. I did not feel any side effects but I had to wait at least 3 month before getting pregnant again.

Yes have had it and happy to chat more about the experience if you want - I know by now you will have made the decission but am here if you want to talk more about it. Have to warn you my experience with the drug was not positive.

Thanks KKKK,

My experience was not so positive either.
I had the first injection, which made me feel quite sick, and unfortuantley 2days later my tube rutured anyway and I had to have surgery.

All is fine now, I have healed well, and my other side is perfectly healthy so should have no probs in the future.
Not concerned about being able to get pregnant again, this wasn't our first baby, and my husband only seems to have to look at me and I'm pregnant!
So fingers crossed.

Hi,

I am looking for a good doctor to go to for this therapy. Can anyone kindly recommend one to me? And also, what is the cost for this?

Many thanks!
