Anyone expecting in April 2011?

HI Mariac, yeah I've started to show really early this time so people have started to guess but as you say I'm sure its due to bloating more than anything else. The indigestion problems are starting to ease but I'm really feeling the increased effort required to do anything and getting out of breath easily!

Sstella, I always take Pregnacare the whole way through as it has Folic acid for the first trimester and all the vitamins you need throughout pregnancy including Vitamin D which is important. I can digest them ok if I take them after a meal but the other day I took one in the morning before eating and was vomiting within 10 minutes so I won't make that mistake again! Pregnancy definitely makes your stomach more sensitive to everything so take care! xx

Hi sstella,
I am taking Centrum Materna A to Zinc multivitamin(there is already folic acid inside). Just one pill every morning after breakfast. I will keep taking it during the pregnancy and till the end of breastfeeding. My stomach has no problem to digest these pills. But I found my digestive system slows down a lot since I have minor morning sickness. Even drinking a small amount of water can fill up my stomach for 20 minutes, followed by countless burps!

Hey Ladies, had my oscar test yesterday and we get the results in a few days. So far so good though. Nausea is much better and definitely showing now since this is number 2. I'm taking a prenatal DHA and a multi that includes folic acid. HOpe everyone is doing well!

Hi Ladies,

A warm welcome to all the new moms-to-be that just joined our group. I've been alright - nausea and vomiting started to get better around 12 weeks which was two weeks ago, so those who are still in first trimester, hang in there! However, after 10 days today, out of the blue I felt nauseous and exhausted and even threw up once, so there you go! I suppose there's no given formula.

I am anxiously waiting for my 14-week check-up tomorrow. I keep looking at my belly and sometimes I think I have a tiny bump while other times I am not sure. I mean my upper stomach is bigger than before for sure, but isn't a baby tummy supposed to swell from the lower abdomen up? Maybe I just don't even know what a baby bump looks like! Hahaha! It is my first after all.

I am also taking Materna & MumOmega both of which my doc prescribed. Wish me luck for tomorrow...I'll be in touch after the appointment. Ahhhh this whole pregnancy thing is so nerve-wrecking. Too many worries...!

Hi ladies - I just did my first checkup and discovered I'm due in May. I noticed a few moms due in May are also responding to the thread, so thought I would join, too. Congrats to everyone!

Mariac, the bump really made its appearance nearer to week 20 for me in the first pregnancy. I'm showing more now because it's number 2. Don't worry, it will show soon!

thanks ladies for all your feedback on the prenatal vitamins. I am not taking them right now cause my stomach is super sensitive. As a result i end-up worrying if between eating less, nausea and sensitive stomach whether the baby is getting enough nutrition!?

I am in my 11th week and i have a slight bump. It looks interesting as the rest of my stomach is flat.
Good luck with your testing Mariac!!

sstella, congrats! you might want to at least consider folic acid if nothing else as it prevents birth defects but it's totally up to you. some women do fine without them.

thanks banane76 for the kind words - my doctor assured today that since i am not quite 14 weeks yet and this is first baby it would be rather unusual to expect a bump or baby movements etc. the gas/acidity bump is there though - nice and big! hahaha.

anyhow the check-up went beautifully and looks like everything is in good shape! my doc even was able to make a pretty good guess on the baby's gender though it's only an 80% correct guess at this point. anyone else had their baby's gender looked/guessed at by their docs?

we should think about meeting soon - what do you ladies say?

Hey Sstella! Don't worry about the first trimester too much...I was losing weight the first trimester last time and this time...you will get your appetite back and the nausea will lessen and even go away!! Good luck on the 14 week check up Mariac!

Hi Mariac and everyone, just back from my 12th week check up, saw my little cola kicking and pumping little hand and feet in the scan, so cute and I am so excited! I guess I do start to show a little bump, but guess it is all because I have yet to change my clothing (Except for bottom), still burp a lot and nausea... appetite sometimes good sometimes bad :( Hope it will go away soon... We have decided not to find out the gender of our baby, as long the baby is healthy! Wish all of us have a smooth pregnancy!

congrats mavislohsp! i also have a fluctuating appetite - i'm not hungry all the time but i am just beginning to get cravings here and there. yesterday i wanted pickles at midnight and gave my hubbie a hard time about it! lol!

banane76 - thanks for the good wishes. everything went well thank god! next check-up is at 20 weeks when they do the detailed morphology scan - hoping to be "big" by then!

Hi all!

Mariac & Mavislohsp- so glad your appt went well!!

Thought maybe it'd be a good idea to share our EDD? so that we all know who may be going into labour first?!

My EDD is 06/04/11 - my first was born at 38 weeks so if this is any indication at all, maybe I will be 2 weeks early again!

My EDD is 07/04/10. We went to 40 weeks and 3 days the first time so hopefully a little earlier this time. Doctor made his first guess on gender but not absolute as it was only just over 13 weeks.

Hi ladies! Congrats to all those who have had scans lately! I'm starting to feel a lot more normal lately (at 11w) with ms relatively subsided and my energy levels up again! Just as well as work is crazy at moment and I have had to do a lot of latenights and have to work today too :(

My EDD is 25/4/11 so I'm 12w on Monday! Yay!!

My EDD is 25

Hey all! So happy to see so many mothers here!

I'm due 26/4/10 but my scan was bigger then LMP so my OG dr is still adjusting the date.

How are you gals gonna deliver your babies? C-section or vaginal?

It's my first and i heard many horrible stories on vaginal that i'm scared. Things I heard include loose lower part which affect sex life, frequent urination and bigger hip, not even mentioned the pain. I've booked Advertist but I still haven't decided.

I had my last scan at 11week. Are your dr predicting the sex already?

I am very lucky coz i dont have any morning sickness at all and eating very well. I bough one pair of maternity jeans today! so happy coz I couldn't put on the button of my own jeans!

hi hi, greeting to all mummy! My EDD is on 23 Apr 2011 and today is the exactly 12 weeks for my baby, yay! I couldn't hold the secret anymore and start calling home telling mums and siblings, they are all very excited and happy for us. Am going back hometown for a month to eat local delicacy to ease my craving, :) hurray!

welcome luckymama and congrats mavislohsp!

luckymama - this is my first baby so i can't speak from experience. but i can't imagine that something as natural as giving birth is "bad" for you. complications can happen but believe me there are enough horror stories about c-section related complications as well. you are indeed lucky to avoid the morning sickness though. :)

mavislohsp i hope you have a great time at home (where is home for you anyway?) and do keep us posted. i'm also very happy cuz my mom is coming to visit me in HK day after tomorrow!

btw ladies, please give me some tips on good maternity clothing stores here. i need to get some pants! i may not have a hard bump but my hips and waistline are certainly are bigger! also, i heard that this is the time when one needs to start using cocoa butter and stuff like that to avoid future stretchmarks? anyone has any advice/experience with that?

There are a few maternity stores, but most are really expensive!!! H and M in Central has some good basics and reasonable, but 9 months on Wellington and Linea Negra on Queen's road are quite expensive. Depends on your budget. They both have nice clothes though.

I did vaginal in my first and it wasn't painless, but like Mariac mentions, c-sections aren't meant to be natural, they're for necessity. There are even worse stories that come with c-sections. Media today hasn't helped put an emphasis on the the beauty of natural birth and focused on the negative. It's not like they do it on tv. Avoid Discovery Home and Health baby stories before your baby is born. Please watch the Business of Being Born. Surround yourself with positive birth stories and ignore those that want to tell you the negative stories. I was sooooo happy that my baby could come out naturally and the pushing part actually didn't hurt. Our bodies are meant to do this and it's sooo beautiful when it happens. You can try Hypnobirthing at Annerley or Kathy Kitzis does Calmbirthing classes. I know so many people that did it drug free. I asked for an epidural after 40 hours of back labour but that was because my baby was sunny side up so it was quite painful and the hypnobirthing exercises did help a lot for me in the early labour. Good luck with your decision!

Anna
