Anyone doing IUI?

we've been TTC for 15 months with no luck.
I'm off for my first IUI tomorrow. I'm 32 and my DH has great count & motility but poor morphology.

Anyone else out there getting IUI?

Have to admit I'm switching from stupidly optimistic to nervous every 5 mins.

Hi Blondy,
I maybe getting my 2nd IUI in two weeks, waiting for AF currently.
Where are you having your IUI done? It is not too bad of an experience for me, I was very nervous the 1st time too, some light cramps in my abdomen, the doctor gave me a shot to calm me down, and it was much better after that. Unfortunately, the timing was poor for my 1st IUI, and I didn't react to the trigger shot well, where my egg grew too large before it past, so it was useless.
I did my first one in China, and will not recommend anyone to do so. Now I am seeing Dr Lo in Central.
So, just try to relax as much as you can, its not an invasive procedure, you will be out of there before you know it!
Good luck & look forward to some good news from you!

Having IUI with Dr Ho in central. Not worried about the procedure, more worried about the 2weekwait and the raised expectations :-(

I'm also expecting my husband to freak out tomorrow when it's his turn for a change (def crossing my fingers for that one).

Also, the more cycles I need the more my absences from work will be noticed. I spoke to HR who are fine, but all my colleagues are male and frankly I don't want everyone knowing my personal business but hard knowing what to say when asked.

Sorry about yourf irst cycle- I guess I should find out tomorrow if the follicles have popped.

until then....

Had the IUI this morning-count looked good but morphology at 4%.

I guess I have officially started the 2week wait.....

Hi
i am planning to do IUI with Dr Patrick chan.. and have started on tablets, and will take some sort of needle injection on sat 22nd may.... and then iui procedure next week sometime!

is my first one!! we have been TTC for around 15 months now, after we have a miscarriage before that at week 8!

I am 31- fed up of hoping and wishing, so am goign to try IUI!!! wish me luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ninimo-good luck!

As you saw i just finished my first IUI yesterday.
I can really relate to being fed up.
Sometimes I want to chose to be childless rather than continuously fail- at least that way there'd be some control (and less hormones!!).

But I'm not at the quitting stage yet! In fact what worries me more is that we seem to be only at the beginning of this infertility debacle. But I'm hoping to get off the merry go round quickly and successfully.

To all those people suffering for long periods of time- I applaud you. I'm not sure I could hold it together for that long-and I'm still hoping I won't have to.

I guess I have to wait 2 weeks to find out.....

hey girls!
congrats katyw, how many wweeks are you now?

Any idea - i go for an injection on the sat, then then come back for a scan on monday next, so when does the usual iui take place? day of ovulation, or 1-2 days before la?

sorie all v new to me!!

Blondie - hang in there - 2 weeks wait will be up v soon!!

how much are your charges on iui? and with which dr?

tks

oh yeah blondie, i totally agree with u.. about those people suffering for so long...... we been trying for 15 months and i already got soo fed up.. each month when i do the pregnancy test and its only one LINE!!!

Best of luck girls!!! I agree it's a really emotionally exhausting journey, but hang in there, we are all here for you.

I had injections to stimulate my follies, then an injection to trigger ovulation for my first cycle (IUI performed 36 hours after the trigger injection I think). First cycle failed, had to rest for the next month because I developed cysts in one of my ovaries.

Second cycle, the dose of the injections was increased which gave me at least 2 good follicles. I ovulated early by myself (natural LH surge detected) so did not need the trigger injection, IUI done 24-36 hours later and succeeded!

So hang in there!!!

I'm doing my first IUI this cycle. I'm actually quite excited. After months of tests and worrying and indecision, it's good to just go give it a try.
We tried naturally for SOOOO long. Now, I feel there is a good chance I will be pregnant in several months.

I'm on Clomid, even though there's nothing wrong with my ovulation. The issue is on the husband's side, but there's no meds for men, I guess. Is this normal?
Just one question -- does it hurt?

hi Gracey, welcome!
i also just starting my first IUI this month. infact today i go to doc to get an injection of something! and then hopefull do the iui this week sometime!
its all v new to me.. so i am not sure of the procedure yet

i had an other injection on sat..b ut it wasnt sore!

We been ttc for around 14 months, but doc cant find any problems with either of us.. jsut mabye unlucky
i am just 31.. but fed up of hoping and waiting after soo long! so decided to give IUI a go!!

wish us all LUCK!!

Just a quick update- 6 dpo and am feeling like I have a cold developing, mild headache and tightness of the stomach and skin break out.

This would all be great news if they weren't the exact same side effects that the progesterone tablets have! watch this space.......

PS.Ninimo I will post the cost of the treatment so far when I get home. Sorry i keep forgetting.

Here are my charges for IUI with Dr Phillip Ho for those that are interested:-
IUI package 7000 HKD
meds (antenatal blood screen, estrofem, clomid etc) add up to an extra 3545 HKD

Before we got to IUI the diagnostic stage- consultation, HSG, Semen analysis, blood work etc cost 9900HKD

So basically ~10K for diagnosis & 10K for this IUI (probably need to add next weeks pregnancy blood test to this but i think you get the drift.....

not cheap, but hopefully worth it

hi Blondy,
hopefully its good news from you v soon! prob one moer week or so.. and u should know some results!! Fingers crossed!!

Dr chan told me iui will cost around hkd 10,000 in total but now i am not sure he means the iui itself and then on top i pay for the needles, clomid, sperm wash etc... but i should have my iui this fri/sat......... so by the end of this.. i should know the total cost!

i usually ovulation on day 13-14, but this round, dr chan said i should ovulation on day 15-16, so am waiting till then...

just wondering should i try myself too!! just to increase the chances!!!

good luck all of us!!!!!

hey blondie.. how are you doing? any good news??

I did my IUI on friday, good count but low motility like 38% and poor morphology at 4% too!

hope that doesnt kill the chances!
now waiting 2 weeks..................

Dr. Clement Chan (there are 2 Dr. Chan's here!) seems more reasonably priced.
2500 to track my ovulation with internal ultrasounds.
2200 for two IUIs in one cycle, including sperm washing.
800 for clomid, hcg shot and prednisone.
so about 5500 for the cycle. (for any non HKers, that's about US 700)
but i'm not including all the testing, etc, that my hubby and i went through a few months ago.
this dr. chan seems very careful. he's monitoring me all the time.
i had one large follicle of 22 mm.

hi Gracie, thats great ah!
Dr patrick chan charges around 6500. for all scans, iui, sperm wash etc etc....

i had a few follicles of 16mm, and 20 mm,, i think it was the 20 mm one that was good size!!
now have the 1.5 weeks wait! its a killer!
