Hi All,

I live in Mid Levels and am due with my first baby sometime between the 7th - 11th of July. As it's still early days and I haven't told many people and my Mum lives far far away in the UK it would be lovely to meet some people in the same boat. I had a m/c in September and became pregnant again straight away so this is a very nerve-wracking time!

Hi fhc,

Congratulations!! :crib:
I'm also going to be a first time Mum, due around the end of July. I have my first scan next week, so it kind of doesn't even feel real yet. We've only told my parents, who are also in the UK, but i'm too scared to tell anyone else as i'm a jumble of nerves.
I'm in Sheung Wan so very local if you wanted to meet for a decaf coffee at some point?

Hey girls. Also a first time mum here. Due first week of July. I would love to hear both your stories and share this journey with more mummies! I'm also in the mid levels, let's have a meet up when everyone feels up to it!

Hi Ladies,

Congrats to both of you! I hope you are all doing well. I am still not feeling massively pregnant which is nice, but some symptoms would be nice!

Let's definitely try and get a meet up organised. I know the run up to Xmas is always busy but perhaps we could try for the new year? We are all quite local to one another so should be easy to sort something out. Let me know your thoughts :-)

There was another lady who sent me a message also so we are 4 at the minute.

Hello ladies,

Congratulations to you all. Also just found out I'm pregnant so would be good to meet other mums-to-be. I'm based in KTown so also quite convenient (there must be something in the water... ;) ). A meet up after New Year sounds great

Hi ladies!
Congratulations to you all.
Yep, a meet up in the New Year would be great. At least we should all be past our first trimester by then. I have also had no real symptoms, apart from being pretty exhausted. I can't believe we're all going to be heavily pregnant during the middle of a HK summer - what timing! ??
Hope the next month goes well for you all. I've been having some spotting this week, but I have my first scan on Friday, so hoping Dr can reassure me then!

Cheers, and Merry Christmas to those that celebrate.

Hi Laurie! I'm also not experiencing much pregnancy symptoms, aside from my new routine of waking up during the night to go to bathroom. I just count my lucky stars!

I'm still looking for an Ob to go to, this week or next. Would love to hear all of your experiences with the doctors. I have already registered at Tsan Yuk for my first public hospital visit, end of December.

Bubinabunny - I went to a free seminar on Public vs. Private at the Annerley Clinic a couple of months ago. They run it pretty frequently I think. It sounds like you're already going down the public route, but could be interesting for you to go. I'm seeing Dr Doo at the Women's Clinic in Central on Friday. I'll let you know what I think of him! Hello ladies,

A massive congrats to all!! I'm due in early July, first time mom too! I work in Central and would be love to meet other moms-to-be . Am trying to decide to go public or private - so will def look into the seminar!

Congrats D! Yeah, definitely try the seminar if you can, I think you should be able to go to the one that I did that runs through a lunch break. They're based in Central, and well worth visiting. As a side note: after going to the seminar, I decided to go private, but we already had insurance in place, so that made the decision a lot easier. Best of luck with the research and decisions ladies! L x

Hello Ladies,

Congratulations to you all! I'm due first week of July with my first baby. I live in mid-levels so would be great to join that meet up in the new year!

Been looking around at hospitals and OB-GYN options. Who are you guys seeing? Any recommendations? And have you chosen where to deliver?

Cheers!

I have booked in to see Dr Edwin Tam in Wan Chai on a friend's reco as he's from Australia and is also ok with patients doing a public hospital delivery (I.e. Only use him for pre-natal). I'll let you know how I get on-appointment is in a week and a half.
Re: symptoms I've already had my 1st couple of voms, always in the evening tho :( is anyone else suffering (the next couple of months could be fun..!)

Hi ladies

Congratulations to you all! I am a first time mum to be too and am due on 20th July. I live in SYP/Mid Levels area and would love to meet some other people in the same position. We had a seven week scan yesterday at Hk Imaging in Central and it was amazing - we could even see his heart beat fluttering! I would highly recommend it for anyone who is a bit nervous. We had a bit of a tricky start to the pregnancy and yesterday was just what we needed to help us relax a bit! I will do public mostly and will give birth at Queen Mary. All my friends have delivered there and all spoke very highly about the staff, even if the bedside manner sometimes left a bit to be desired!

Hope to meet up with you all soon!

Happy Sunday everyone!
Laurie, hope your appointment went great.
SYPbump, congrats and welcome. Did you have a doctor refer you to HK Imaging?

Yes I went to the London Medical Clinic (I recommend seeing Dr Tony) and they gave me a letter, I paid them and then just called up to book the appointment. The staff there were great. First a technician looked initially and pointed out the baby and its heartbeat then an obstetrician came and checked everything. I had been referred for internal ultrasound too but they didn't bother doing that as they saw everything was ok. It cost $1800 for both but they will reimburse me when I go back to the dr as only had one. They even let my husband take a video of it and I think when I go back to the dr we get print outs.

Happy Sunday to you too - I am carb loading and under a duvet - Hk has made me a weather wimp!

Hi Ladies,

Congratulations! I'm also from the UK and pregnant for the first time, due on 29th July. I live out in Tai Wai (NT) but work in Sheung Wan so would love to meet in the New Year.

I am feeling quite sick most days but hoping it might pass as my body gets used to all the changes happening!

Hi Hannah

Congratulations to you too! Hope the sickness subsides soon. You have quite a commute so hope that's not been too rough with the sickness. I travel from mid levels to sha tin for work and the taxi rides have been interesting lately! I've not been sick but had the most awful heartburn so if anyone has any remedies please share.

Does anyone have any travel insurance that covers pregnancy? I think the HSBC one classes pregnancy as a pre-existing condition so it isn't covered.

I hope everyone is feeling ok and all check ups have gone well

Congrats, Hannah & SYPBump!
I'm looking at delivery options, and it seems there's a huge difference between going public or private - is there no middle ground?? I've had friends given birth in Queen Mary but have heard some horror stories about the lack of patient care of late...
