letterland and jolly phonics
Hi,
Having used both as an infant teacher there are pluses and minuses to both systems. Jolly Phonics is good for those children who need movement in their learning. For visual learners then Letterland can be helpful, if not a bit twee.
You need to remember that both schemes are only meant for pre-nursery and nursery aged children and as soon as they've got their letter sounds the systems should be abandoned. This is where teaching in the UK got Letterland wrong as they continued using it after the children no longer needed it, thus creating confusion.
Hope that was some help,
Jools
