any centres for newly borns

We are considering to send our baby to a pre-kindergarden centre from 6mths old.

We will both be working and dont really want to employee a maid, we want to take to a school/centre.

Any one have any recommendations

it is illegal for playgroups to take children WITHOUT an adult until the child is 2 or 3 years old.

how do you expect someone to take care of dozens of babies? besides, you'll pay more than the cost of a helper for this type of service.

i know that the gov't runs a few daycares. but they are very full and you need to qualify (ie. be a lower wage earner), so far as i know.

check out the social welfare dept.
 
Agree with Cara. Plus: as babies need individual care (6-m-old can't even walk!), you'd better hire a nanny if you can afford it (eg the Nanny Experts) or a good DH. For the well-being of your baby, do not think of dropping him/her off in a place where there are lots of other wee ones. Staff in a place like that - if it exists in HK - might be working on low salary and be possibly over-worked, such that you can't be sure how much care and attention your little one really gets. Good luck with your arrangements!
 
If you can't afford a full time nanny, you may want to consider a share nanny. Two mums from my mum's group did that. The nanny takes care of two bubs around the age. May be a possibility if you can find someone in HK in the same situation.

There is nothing wrong with looking for an infant care center in HK. Just because it is less commonly done, it does not mean you are not looking out for your loved little one.

My daughter enrolled in an infant care when she was merely eight weeks old in the US. I dropped her off everyday and visited her during lunch hours and picked her up after work. She learned her routine really early in life and is always relaxed and calm and easy to care for. I'd much prefer a professional care center than a DH regardless of the cost. Uhfortunately I have yet to find one. Please keep me posted if you do.

What is your reason for not wanting to hire a helper?

Is it $? or is it because you don't feel comfortable having strangers at home? Folks in this forum may be able to give you recommendations that address the root problem.
 
yz3636, just bear in mind that the culture in US is quite different from that of Hong Kong, and hence you may find the kind of care and/or standard can be quite different in daycare service that are provided here.
 
mailmail... you took the words right out of my mouth.

things here are VERY different to "back home" and i would not for one minute equate the two.
