My daughter loved all books Maisy Mouse!
Dr Seuss
Pop up books and books that are interatcive are great at this age
Poppy Cat series
And most of the ones mentioned above were great!

Spot (the puppy) is a popular choice
goodnight gorilla
goodnight moon

also try the bookazine outlet store on hollywood road - quite good discounts!

My 27 month yr old son loves:
Eric Carle books
Maisy books
Courdoroy
Osborne's Hide N' Seek books: dinosaurs, castles (lift the flap)
Diego books

The "that's not my" book series from Usborne books is also good... it involves tactile interaction and my kids loved them from a very early age.

Examples of titles are "That's not my car", "That's not my Bear", "That's not my dinosaur", etc.

My almost 3 son adores "Brown Bear" by Eric Carle and
"Where is the Green Sheep" by Mem Fox

Actually - he loves all the Eric Carle books we've tried with him...

Good luck. Reading is a great foundation.

basically books with simple words and colourful pictures are good... i tend to buy animal books and read them stories. 2.5 yrs old loves to describe animals

All the books, authors, brands above are great....
Aside from authors and brands, you may also consider books that repeat the same words over and over and over and over again on each page with just a few words that are changed on each page. This encourages your child to start to remember the sight words (common words).

Also, books that have things to touch (like some wool when its about sheep) are great as well.
