hi I have 2 nieces coming to visit for 4days and I need to come up with places to take them. I have no kids myself (yet) so am completely clueless.

They are 4 and 2.5yrs- girls, due to the scorching heat, alot of outdoor activities like hiking are out- per their mother's instructions.

Are they any shaded parks/ playgrounds that are suitable for that age?
Activities that can occupy them for a few days- is there a magazine (like HK) for kid's that I can pick up?

Hong Kong side prefered as I will have to take them everywhere and honestly a trek to Kowloon in this heat is too much for me.

advice REALLY appreciated!

Disney and Ocean Park obviously
Playtown (indoor playroom) for rainy days
Science Museum would be great for those ages, but it is in Kowloon (taxi there and back?)

Wise kids in Cyberport (get the info on their website first has they have cleaning hours), and same as LeahH, Ocean Park and Playtown.

Thanks for the great start. Where is playtown exactly?

I dont mind going to the Science Museum as its a specific destination in Kowloon, i just cant stand the thought walking any of the tourist streets with them.

Playtown is in the shopping mall Westwood (down the Belcher's), in Kennedy Town (Belcher's Street)...

Science Museum - don't just taxi it! Take the star ferry across, do the museum, and then back on the ferry after ice cream & a visit to Toys R Us at nearby ocean terminal! what a treat! ;-)

We take the Star Ferry whenever we can and our toddler loves it. He especially likes riding on the lower deck because you can peer into the engine room, watch the guys throw the ropes, talk into those funnels used on ships for talking between decks and watch the captain steer the ship.
As a bonus, no stairs to go up/down to get to the ferry.
And our toddler and his friends have enjoyed all the musuems in HK. Favorite is probably the railroad musuem, but that is further out.
The musuems are free on Wednesdays. Just watch the opening hours, space opens rather late.

They won't feel the heat at the beach or outdoor/indoor swimming pool - keep them busy for hours. Just slap on the sunscreen and they'll have a blast.
