Advice for Phuket

Hi everyone! I am going to Phuket for 5 days with my 26 month old and my 8 month old. We're staying at the Banyan Tree. Has anybody ever stayed there with children before? What are fun activities to do with kids that age in Phuket?

Also, I am starting to think about what to feed my 8 month old. Currently she eats rice cereal with fruit and congee with meat and veggies freshly made everyday. Not worried about the rice ceral and fruit as I can easily make that in Phuket....but am not sure how to go about the other meal she eats. I think there is a kitchen in the villa, but am not sure if there are supermarkets around for me to buy meat and veggies to cook for her? I guess I could tried jarred food, but I've already tried a few with her and she doesn't seem to like it. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Can anyone help with this questions! I know lots of mommies out there who have been to PHuket with their kids! ANy advice much appreciated!

There is a Tesco supermarket not far from the Banyan Tree, they may have a bus that runs or you can get a taxi. It has everything you need. Have fun!

thanks pipinhk! any suggestions for fun activities to do with a toddler and a baby there? have you stayed at the Banyan Tree before - are there shopping areas near by? Thanks!

haven't been to phuket myself, but why don't you try emailing banyan tree and see if they have any suggestions? perhaps they have some advice that you can prepare before flying there? i'll ask around too, to see if anyone i know has been to banyan tree phuket...

I saw somewhere in the supermarket that sells instant congee just like the instant noodle in a cup, that could be an option.

I travel with my kids since they were very little, I always bring one of those small travelling plug in pot with me. Maybe you can bring some cherry tomato, carrot.. with you and get the rice from the hotel or bring some instant rice, add some water and make the congee in your villa? Just a thought.

The Tesco there has very little in terms of products you recognize. I highly doubt there is a big baby food section there. If you are staying at the Banyan Tree I would just stock up at your breakfast (feed the baby congee) and then fruits etc...throughout the day. I would perhaps bring some jars of food for dinner time. You could use their rice like wegetable mentioned above and make your own congee etc...Banyan Tree is not one of the more child-friendly resorts in Phuket, but Bangtao Beach is great. My family loved Surin beach too which is a short distance away by car. There is a small shopping village in the Banyan Tree/SHeraton area which has a small playground and stores like the Jim Thompson outlet. There's a cafe etc..I;ve also seen elephants roaming around near by which I think you can ride on.
