Adventist - which type of rooms usually fill up first?

Would it be the 4-people, double or private rooms?

And if, say, I wanted a double room, do I have to prebook? Have people been upgraded to a private room?

But if the double rooms are all filled up when I just do a walk-in, I suppose I would have to pay the full price for a private room right? (Unless I go for the ward, that is.) Kinda like at the hotels?

Thanks!

I heard the double rooms are highly sought after.

You don't necessarily need to pre-book the room - just walk in & register on the day of your labor or on your elected C-section date, whichever is applicable. They will ensure a room availability of your choice or the next upgrade at no extra cost. ie, you just pay for the double room rate eventhough you get an upgrade to a private room. However, they may move you back to a double room when it is available.

The mid-wife told me this when I delivered my baby at this hospital 3 months ago.

Oh btw, I believe this is the only hospital in HK that charges your stay by the hour. For example, if you check-in at 12noon on Monday & check-out at 10am on Thursday, they will bill you for 2days & 22hours instead of 3 days.

the ward fills up first. there are about 15 rooms including 1 ward, 5 private rooms, 1 super suite. i have given birth there 2 times and both times i requested a semi-private room upon arrival. i believe they put individuals in semi-private rooms until all rooms are filled then allocate the 2nd person. both times the ward filled up and i had somebody with me temporarily (until ward opens up).

if you go for the semi private room. you want to ask for the window side. it gives you greater access to the open area of the room so you can accept visitors without having to get out of the bed. the draw back or benefit depending on how you see it is next to the shared bathroom.

good luck with your delivery. it's a nice hospital with good support.
