that would depend on the kindergarten. all kindergartens in hk are privately run. you need to know (1) where you are going to live, (2) what language you would prefer: english, cantonese, mandarin or some other language, (3) budget, (4) individual kindergartens' admission procedures.
thanks for ur response carang, my husband's office is in causeway bay, so we would prefer an area nearby. However i was told that it would be very difficult to find admission so late. is it so, can u pls explain?
kindergartens/primary schools that are international or teach in english are highly sought after, hence difficult to get into. many of them have long waiting lists.
you should do a search for kindergartens in areas between wanchai and tin hau and then apply to more than one...
You should also consider and think about an extra language for your young one. 3 years old is perfect for picking up Cantonese and there are a lot of Cantonese kindergartens around.
Based on my experience, you probably will have a better shot applying at private kindie chains such as Tutor Time or Woodlands. A lot of newcomers have their kids at these schools while they figure out next steps for schooling, but if you want to stay until right before Primary School, they can accommodate too!
