My DD is 21 months and now constantly whinges whenever I am around and always wants to be carried. I do work and perhaps this is a new clingy phrase but aaaarrrrgggghhhhhh.
My 19 month old is being VERY clingy too, carried her around HK park most the time we were there (I am 5 months pregnant). I am guessing its because of the new helper we have, my daughter isn't warming up to her yet. Has there been a recent change in the environment or has she been sick recently?
Yes - she has been sick and still has a runny nose plus the grandparents have just left plus i now work from home instead of going to the office so I am around more.
My son is 23-months-old and he also wants Mama a lot of the time--he wants me to "bo bo" (Cantonese: "hold") him a lot. I usually love to do it but sometimes I simply tell him to "Wait" or "Deng deng" (Cantonese: "wait") I was just looking at the methods suggested on this page and a lot of them make sense. I especially find the "offering other options" suggestion to be what I use most often--so if he wants to be picked up and at the moment I'm doing something I'll ask him to help me with something--ask him to go get a toy or sit down on a stool and watch what I'm doing. But, thankfully, because we've been practicing the concept of "wait and be patient" with him pretty much for the past year or more the idea of "waiting" isn't new to him and he doesn't throw a fit like the boy in this video.
Yes, my 20 month old is going through a similiar stage and is very clingy to me at the moment (not so much his Daddy). Also difficult for me as he is a big boy and I am pregnant too.
My situation is similar to starbucks2. My almost 3-years old is always asking me to carry him and I'm pregnant. I wonder whether he's being jealous already as it wasn't quite like this before I tell him about the baby...
for Sazzy, I think the running nose have a lot to contribute the clingy phase.
I think most toddlers at this age is looking to their mama and sing silently: "ONLY YOU". my 2.8 year old still does this whenever we are out at a new place or a room full of people, like Bday party.
