4D ultrasound

Hi all mommies and mommies to be,

My due day is Apr next year. So far things are going pretty well and I am looking forward to my first official prenatal check on Nov 11.

Hearing some parents talk about the 4D ultrasound for the baby, I just wonder who have experience of having one and when is the good time to do so you can see the clear picture of the baby?

Last but not the least, are there any good clinic or hospital recommended for such a scan??

I'm going for one tomorrow at Annerley in Central - I'm 25 weeks at moment and this is apparently the best time to go before the baby gets too big! I am having mine as part of their 'Best of Both' package so it is included for no extra charge with my antenatal classes and post natal midwife checks.
Looking forward to it - will let you know what we think!

We did our through Annerley, also around 25 weeks... You don't want to go too early as everything looks pretty alien-like... And if you wait too long everything is too squashed up. It was great at Annerley, they really spent a lot of time making sure we got a good look and great photos!!

Thanks for the great tips JoMck & TraceyHat! I have looked through Annerley's website and I just called them for a booking at the end of December. Very excited of seeing the baby at that time!

JoMck, when you talk about the "Best of Both" package, what is it about and do they still offer it??

Thanks again both!

Just found the "Best of Both" package! @.@

Annerley - Maternity and Early Childhood Specialists - Best of Both - Giving Birth in a Public Hospital?

Thanks!

Oh that's good you've got booked in with Annerley! If you go on to their website and look under 'packages' you'll see 'Best of Both' - it's designed for people using the public system. I didn't do everything though as I am very happy with my ante natal care at Queen Mary so I haven't gone to annerley for any check ups, I'm just going to use them for my antenatal classes, extra talks and then post natal mid wife visits which you don't get through the public system here. They just discounted the antenatal checks from the price for me, so they seem to be flexible and fit in with how much you would like.
I'm not sure if they are still offering the 4D scan as part of the package, but I only booked it all about 6 weeks ago so its definitely worth asking!
Good luck with everything!

I also used the best of both package. You can use it if you don't want to go to all of the appointments at the public hospital. I still went to most appointments... Being my first pregnancy I actually enjoyed doubling up on the appointments as I got to hear her heartbeat more often and see that everything was ok. They were great at the public appointments but I found it so much easier to chat in more detail and ask way more questions at Annerley. Also, doing the glucose test at Annerley wasn't bad at all, have heard it isn't great in the public system...

Does that package include the cost of any scans? On the website that's not entirely clear - says something about referring you to a doctor for a scan if need be. The package sounds great though, am definitely considering it!

When I did it the scans weren't included, but the ultrasound machine was brand new and Hulda was still completing or had just completed her training at that time... I had my baby last year September so it was a while back... We did get a couple of free peeks though as Hulda was keen to practice.. :) Not sure how it works now, just give them a call and ask!
