3 month old sleeping too much?

My LO will turn 3 months next week. She has suddenly reverted back to sleeping all day long and night in the last few days. She is probably awake 4 hours a day in total? That seems a bit short to me as before this, she was up a lot more. She is nursing well though and gaining weight ok. However, she has a bit of a cough, maybe she is just tired from it?

Need some reassurance here!

I've read that there's suppose to be a growth spurt around 3 months so they could just been resting up and growing. I would suggest making sure your baby's gaining weight and wake her up for her feedings if she sleeps through them.

My baby is 3mths 2wks and sleeps more than the recommended 5hours of nap time by Gina Ford....sometimes missing a meal too! However, I just let her sleep and do not wake her up since sleeping helps them to develop their brain and grow. What I do is increase the amount she takes at the next feedings so that the total amount of daily intake is as close to "normal" as possible. As long as she is gaining weight it should be fine I think...

If you are worried, take her to the Dr just to be sure she is not ill. Otherwise - enjoy the sleep now :) and get some yourself.
