toddler groups in central ( or park view area)

Hi I've just moved to park view with my 9 month old son, I've been looking for a toddler group near by in central somewhere, I went to the one at st Johns today and waited half an hour but we were the only people there! Can someone let me know a good place where I can let the little one loose he hates being cooped up in the appartment and needs space to crawl, and other babies to chatter to!

Hi Felicity

I am also looking for play groups near Central. I have older boys - 2 year old twins . I was planning to try the St John's play group, so am disappointed to hear it is not well attended.

I would be really interested to hear of there are any toddler goups running that I could bring my two along to, or to help set up a new one.
 
thanks I'll have a look, I think they might be a bit structured, I was hoping to find something we could attend when we were free rather than having to pay for a whole term....
 
Hi Felicity I have a 6 months old daughter and live in Midlevels West (near HKU). She always want to go out so perhaps we can build a group ( I have never been to St Johns). Please let me know..

I'm thinking of trying st Johns again this week if anyone is interested in coming along too.. this time on Tuesday as thats the parent and helper session so there might actually be someone there this time!!!!!!!!!!!!
 
I have a friend who's helper takes her son every Tuesday to St. Johns so Im pretty sure there will be people there!! Hope that helps!
 
I'm interested, can somebody tell me what time and where exactly is the playground? It's St.Johns Cathedral on Garden Road right?
 
yes.. if you come up garden road its on the right, its held in the fanny li hall (atleast thats where I went on thursday) if you take the first entrance to the site and go past the notice board and take the first right you should see a flight of stairs.. go up there and its on the first floor, its sign posted although not very clearly in my opinion I ended up asking someone.

Have you tried the Matilda group? It's held on Thursday afternoons for 9-18mth babies (and in the mornings for 0-9mths) at the Matilda Hospital. It's run by health visitor Yvonne Heavyside and costs $60 each time. You can just drop in any week you're free (no monthly/term commitment).

I used to go there with my toddler but he's 22mths now and has 'graduated'. I also have an 8wk old boy. I live in Parkview and if you want to meet up sometime, I'd be interested. I know our children aren't close in age, but to be honest, until they're about 2yrs old, kids don't play together in any case! Baby groups tend to be more a social event for mothers than for little ones!

Hi, I also have a 12 month son and have recently moved to Hong Kong, living in Repulse Bay. Parkview is very close by to us and would be interested in joining a playgroup if others are interested. I also heard that there was a daycare centre at Parkview itself. Do you know if this is true? Rachel

Hi twin mum and felicity, did one of you go to St.Johns again? Planing to go one of the next weeks, so would be great to know if its worth a try. My son is 20 months...

I've not checked this in ages as my mum and dad have been over. I'm all on my own again in the week now so I'm planning on going to st johns again on Tuesday. Aidan seemed to enjoy it, he is a very sociable little guy.
If anyone does come along, we'll be easy to spot so please come over and say hi, I was the only british mummy last time and Aidan was the only little blondie in the room, it would be great to meet more people, I wasn't entirely sure what was going on last time, I couldn't find a register and no one really told me what was going on so when they set out tables to give the kiddies snacks we left!
There is an international pre-school at park view I'm not sure if thats what you've heard about, I've not really investigated it as I thought Aidan was a bit young!
