My daughter is 1 year old. I would like to know about nursery or playgroup in KLN Tong for my little one. Please advise. Thanks!

any playgroups or parents who meet up?

Can't understand why no one responds to postings of playgroups in Kowloon? Do they not exist? Hearing all the playgroups on the HK side makes me a tad envious....would love to meet others on this side without trekking over to the HK side everyday. Can anyone advise of any? Thanks.

I'd imagine there are more members living on HK island and that's why nobody mentions about playgroup in Kln!!

There is a Parents & Toddlers class at YMCA TST, every Mon and Thurs, and each class costs HK$40 (member) / HK$55 (non-member).

There are also a few playgroups at Metropolis Mall (Hunghom), such as My Gym, My MusikBox, Amazing Language, etc.

In Kln Tong, there is Kids' Gallery which offers Kindermusik program.

Hi Mambo, Tsang_jj,

When you ask about playgroups are you talking about self-formed playgroups by mothers or ones that you can take at centers? Also, do you expect the language used to be English, Cantonese, Mandarin?

Here is a few that you can take a look at:

Kindermusik is offered at:
1) Kids Gallery -
28 Cumberland Road , Kowloon Tong, Kowloon
Tel: (852) 2337 1001
2) YMCA - TST
3) Tiny Seed Kinder Studio -Entrepot Centre Kwun Tong (connected to APM shopping centre)
Tel: 2372-9068

The Metropolis Mall,6 Metropolis Drive,Hung Hom, Kowloon (KCR exit C)
1) My Musikbox
2) My Gym
I think there are a few more centres - not sure if they have playgroups - they have a whole floor in the mall for children activities

The Little Gym
New World Centre
18-24 Salisbury Road, Tsim Sha Tsui

Below are the more expensive playgroups/early childhood programmes etc.:

Nottingham Children Campus ( NCC ) - used to be on 1 Stafford Road Kowloon Tong - but have moved recently - but still in Kowloon Tong area
Tel: 2337-7148

TutorTime
Kowloon Tong School No. 1 Dorset Crescent, Kowloon Tong, Kowloon
Tutor Time WOW School No. 9 Suffolk Road, Kowloon Tong, Kowloon, Hong Kong

Yew Chung
10 Somerset Road, Kowloon Tong, Hong Kong

There are also tons of local playgroups in Kowloon area - you can probably just search on the internet. If you have enough mommies, you can probably form your own groups and select your own time.

Cheers and good luck.

The YMCA in TST has playgroups. www.ymcahk.org
Also USRC in Jordan - Gascoigne road used to have playgroups. www.usrc.org.hk but I couldn't find the information on the website. Maybe you can call them directly and see if they still hold them.

There's a new place in Hung Hom in the Metropolis Mall. It's called Amazing Language and in addition to English, they run French, Spanish and Japanese playgroups.

MyGym also has a location in Kowloon in the same Mall.

The USRC playgroup has been around for ages and is always a hit with Moms/Kids

Lastly, if you're in Kwun Tong, check out Tiny Seed Kinder Studio

I am trying to look for playgroup for my 19 month old boy too. Recently, I have collected info and visited couple of them in Kowloon Tong which are Tutor Time, Anfield and Yew Chung and Kiddi Craft Academy. Tutor Time looks very professional to me but it is quite expensive($1450/4 classes). Whilst Anfield requires term enrolment and costs average $200/hour. But surprisingly, Yew Chung has a programme for 2year old kids (which I was not very sure what is called) costing average $112/hour. Anyone knows more about these courses, please share your experience and opinions.

i only know that tutor time is runing playgroup classes every day.. but it is up to you to join how many day per wk, as far as i know 2 days /wk is around 2500/mth and 3days/wk around 2900mth... they are all afternoon classes and 1.5 hr / class

1450/4 classes!!! seems quite expensive....

hi, I take my son to Amazing Language for English phonics and playgroup. I think it is great and so does my son. He just can't wait to go there every Friday afternoon and Saturday morning. The teachers there I have found to be friendly and very calm in nature.

I do not care what the teachers look like eg caucasian, asian etc. The most important thing is what are the teachers qualifications and how they can interact with my child. They have teachers with tertiary education and have the mother tongue of the laguage they teach. I ask parents to ask questions when inquiring about courses for their children. Who is exactly is conducting the playgroup and classes. What are their qualifications etc. We as parents pay so much money for our child's play pursuits and education that we want the best that we can afford.

I am planning to enroll my baby in KinderU Kowloon. Although I have read some threads regarding KinderU on this site, but the new KinderU is operated under another management team so am going to give it a go as I do believe in the Doman philosophy.

Anyone else tried the Doman flashcards with their babies? Would welcome any experiences with it.

Kowloon Tong Nursery/Playgroup

Thanks pinkpearl. I thought tutortime only did playgroups in Putonghua and English before. Around $400 per class does seem a lot though. Does anyone know if kidsgallery at Cumberland Road (kln tong) is any good?

playgroups - nt

:grouphug:seriously, those charges are ridiculous. I'm a teacher and I say look to forming a group yourselves. Most condos have hire rooms with play equip for children. Good luck!

Hi NewMummy

Did you say there's a KinderU in KOWLOON? I thought it was only in Causeway Bay? I will attending the parents seminar on 8 Sept to see if it's any good. The Doman theory really only works if the program is also carried out at home so I want to find out what benefits the actual class offers. I will be training my helpers to do the reading program but i need someone to teach my babies in Putonghua.
