Good Mandarin playgroup?

My son goes to the under 2's mandarin playgroup at the YWCA (mandarin for munchkins). They sing songs, do action songs, learn things like colours, animals, food etc. He seems to enjoy it, as do all the other kids in the class. Not sure how different it is for the over 2s. Only one day a week.

Cheaper Mandarin playgroup?

I find the cost is very high (7 lesson is $1290 and 1 hour only). Any cheaper playgroups, below $100?

How about Kiangsu and Chekiang Primary School in North Point? They have a Mandarin speaking kindergarten but I am not sure what age children can start going.

Mandarin playgroup

I know a lady who leads Mandarin playgroups and she doesn't charge a lot -- don't remember the exact price but certainly below $100/ 1-hour session. My daughter had a trial class (for free) at a friend's place and the kids seemed to enjoy it. Let me know if you want her contact information.

KCS Nursery is from 2 years old (2.5 hours Putonghua with half an hour of English).

If you are looking for playgroup kind, do check out www.earlymandarin.com
A newly open establishment with reasonable fee. But I really have no comments in term of setting and facilities (never been there).

I happened to know the person(Linda) who run this playgroup as we had an informal setting with few other moms late last year. The playgroup we had was informal but structured. She is a dedicated mother and we had a great fun learning and making new friends for child/ren and mothers alike.

Hi Newbies,

Can you pm with contact details for Linda? I, too, am interested in Mandarin playgroup for my kids (5YO & 3YO). Is Linda available to come to N.T.?

bbbccc,
Linda offer free trial class. Think there should be contact number you can find at the link I gave earlier. Will have to check with her if it's ok for me to give out her personal number.

In the last post, I was actually talking about the same lady as newbies did. I would also highly recommend her -- really impressed by the way she organized her activities and how her little props helped attract and retain the kids' attention and motivation. You can contact her through her website (www.earlymandarin.com). Good luck.:agree:

Calling for kids (age range 3 - 5 YO) to join a private trial Mandarin playgroup scheduled for Sat. 23 June, 4:00 - 5:00pm at Fa Yuen St. Sports Centre at Mongkok. The Mandarin teacher is called Linda. For a group of 7 kids, the price is HK$85 per child. I have already 4 kids on the list, would be great if I can make it to 7 kids. If this trial lesson is successful, I aim to hold a regular playgroup in the N.T., pref. in Tai Po every Saturday afternoon or Sunday morning. But note that there will be an additional fee of $20 per child to cover for the teacher's travelling cost. If you need further information, you can either pm me or email me at [email protected]

Hi Newbies,

Can you pm with contact details for Linda? I and my friends are also interested in Mandarin playgroup for our kids (1 girl and 2 boys all age 3) . Is Linda available to come to N.T.? (Shatin/MOS)

We have tried a PG by Graceful hands and the two PTH tutors there are really good. However, as the schedule crashes with my son's nap, I quit the PG two months afterwards.

I've asked Tin Ping and YCLA (Yew Chung) but don't know whether the tutors there are good or not (Qualified)? Does anybody know?

Hi Dr. Mickey,

I am arranging this Mandarin playgroup thru this lady called Linda that I have obtained the details from Newbies/Lulu (many thanks girls, much appreciated!). Would you like to join us for a private trial mandarin class on Sat. 23rd June? Please refer to my earlier message on board. Thanks.
Susan
