Need some help.

I have been breastfeeding my 7 month old baby since birth and everything was running smoothly until this week. Firstly my daughter got gastro where she threw up all the milk then I got the gastro. This led to having no milk left by the 7.00pm feed. This has happened two days in a row now despite the gastro stopping. I am continuing to drink and eat as much as I can. Feeling very bad as daughter goes balistic when I have no milk before she goes to sleep. Do I give formula?( she has never had a bottle)

Thanks

If you had a normal milk supplly before, it will return, just feed her a lot. It is all supply and demand, the more she nurses, the more milk you will make. I have never given formula when I was sick, I think it will only interfer with making more milk, because she will be full and then not nurse as much. Try to stay hydrated. Eat popsicles, or something like that.

I was really sick once with norwalk virus and I remember I could hardly sit up to feed the baby and it took every ounce of strength to not vomit when I fed the baby. It was so terrible, but don't worry about the milk supply it will rebound. I would feed the baby, then run to the bathroom for 3 days!
