Night time toilet training

Hi

My son (will turn 4 in June) still uses diaper at night. during the day he is fine. Some nights he wets the bed so badly. I

1. remember seeing some comments in this Forum about inserts into the diaper for bigger kids. Anyone know about this?

2. I have no idea to train him except to "encourage" him to hold it at night or go toilet, but at the same time don't want him to feel pressurised. What should I do?

Many thanks!

I've had discussions about this with multiple older generations and it seems that people used to take the child to the toilet just before going to bed themselves... Apparently the child doesn't wake up, just carry them to the toilet and softly say pee honey or make a swooosging sound and apparently it works. I'll be trying this when my 2 year old is ready for night time training.

We would also take our guy to the toilet before we went to bed at around 12 or so. We actually kept a little potty in his room, so that he didn't have to walk far.

Thanks! Potty sounds good. I used to wake him before I sleep and carry him, but he is so heavy now (46 pounds, very tall). Just need to restart the routine again.

Do you still put on diaper on the first few days?

Hi Little Bird,

I do put diaper on and reward my son if he wakes up with a dry diaper.

Thanks! I just bought some new diapoers for 'kids' (before i was using Huggies XXL from the baby line), seems to hold more wee wee.

And I also noted that on holidays, as he goes to bed later, and have more time to clear his wee from water intake during dinner, it helped (he woke up with dry diapers most of Easter holidays).

Some people said to bring him to wee wee before the addult sleeps, but I found it difficult(impossible?) for boys to wee as their penis get "hard" during sleep?

can't boys wee when the penis get hard???? my son doesn't seem to have any problem with that.
