Homeopathy for eczema

Glee,
can i have the contact details for neocate? also, when did you notice a difference in your son's condition after taking neocate? and did you notice anything different in his poo? thought i would look into this as well...thanks.

Mummybee - where do you get Pepti-Junior? I couldn't find it in the supermarkets or at Mannings...thanks.

YKY, you can only get from Mannings that have a Pharmacy section. Sorry if I wasn't clear enough in my last post. I used to buy mine from the Mannings next to H & M, Central, and it is located on the shelf in front of the Pharmacy counter (do ask pharmacist). Pink can with teddy bear at side, $73 for one can.

apologies for delay in responding - we were away. We get Neocate direct from the HK distributor. Speak to a Ms Lo (mobile: 8103 3329, office:2827 1616).

For all those who use skin prick tests, our allergist only conducts blood tests since it's simpler on a young child and just as accurate. It's quicker and whilst there is pain and suffering involved, it's only a short period. We would have no ability to hold a toddler still for skin pricks and we only do them once a year, not every 6 months since it depends on the results and shld not be done as a matter of course.

perhaps you could ask your doctors about the RAST tests?

It's difficult to say what exactly is the catalyst for the ezcema going away (ezcema cream, drugs or diet) since we started them all at the same time when we change our PD. hope this helps

Sorry, YKY, missed your last Q - the poo changes if there's an allergic reaction - it gets watery. Also poo changes when u take Neocate - it looks a lot like he's taking iron supplements but it's normal. When he got older (ie past 1) we switched to neocate advance which has more appropriate nutrients for a toddler. let me know if I may be of further help

Is your homeopath named Mr. Bradshawin IMI. My girl has taking the treatment nearly two months. After taking the test, he said my girl is allergy to cow milk, sea food and dairy products. He advised me to drink goat milk and probiotics named Symbiotique. But I find that the ingrediate of the probiotics may contain dairy. As my girl is flare-up for this three weeks, so I stop the probiotics and use another probitics which is dairy free. After takeing the treatment, I found that my girl's eczema is more severe. I am considering to change another homepath.

sorry, i just started checking this thread again. i put ovus cream on 3 times a day, and if it's an excema patch that's been there for a long time, it took a week for it to start dissapating. if it just started, it take about 2 days.

but frankly, i don't know whether it's "lucky doctor treats the end of the illness" (u know we have a cantonese saying that goes like that).

the one who really helped m daughter was her reiki healer. if you're interested, pm me & i'll give you the contact no. but she's always away & quite booked up.

Nikkiliu - just want to share my experience at IMI with the same homeopath at IMI. My son (now 6 1/2 months) was also diagnosed at 4 months with cow milk and soy milk allergy and recommended goats milk. Also, rhus tox 6c, Symbiotics, fishoil. Situation got bad with flareups. I went back and Graeme wasn't around, so I saw Tej who prescribed granite and zinc. Situation got even worse. This was all within 3-4 weeks. I continued with the treatment but after no progress, went back and Graeme said that the rhus tox and granite were too strong and gave me another probiotic that was dairy free. Also, told me to change the formula to hydrolysed formula. I've tried neocate and stopped all homeopathic treatment and situation improved markedly. I'm not sure if my son is extra sensitive (that was told to us by Graeme), but after so many visits and severe flareups, I'm not very confident about IMI treatment or diagnosis for that matter. Maybe for older children or adults, it's ok to "experiment" with different treatments and dosages, but I don't want him to be the guinea pig. And, after all that, go back to using steroids which is what Graeme recommended on our last visit. I know many have had success with the treatment, but it hasn't worked for us. I hope you have better luck than us. Just want to let you know my experience.

where can I get Ovus cream?
Haven't tried Bioderma, but already bought it :P Which one is better?

My daughter is 6 yo, and she's STILL having flare-ups every now and then :( She's been having eczema since she's 3 mo :(
When it's really bad I have no choice but to put steroid cream called "elomet" (prescribed by our GP). It'll clear up after a few days. Then she'll stay clear for a week or two before it all starts up again. It's going on and on and on......
Wonder when she'll OUTGROW this as people and dr have been telling me this since 6 years ago

Joannek: Can you PM me the details of your reiki healer?

Thanks :)

Nikkiliu, I am not sure if you read my post to YKY in another thread about IMI (I believe I PMed her on this precise matter and perhaps YKY you could forward my PM to Nikkiliu if she is interested?) but essentially, my experience with Bradshow in IMI is also B-A-D. He said the same thing to me, that my daughter is extra sensitive, switch to goats milk, take the probiotics he prescribed bla bla bla, and ask us to go to him again and again, but always "busy" and "unavailbale" when we tell him our daughter's problem is worsening. I don't know who recommended you to see him, and it seems many of us, including myself, fell into the trap that he is the best. Well, maybe he is, but so far I have not heard of a single review of him curing children; it may work for adults, but seems all children who saw him got worse! Anyway, I stopped treatment after one consultation as I don;'t want my daughter to suffer more than she is already suffering. Just my two cents....

Hi YKK and mummybee,

Thank you for your sharing. YKK, is that mean you have stopped all the homeopathy treatment and you child's skin has improved a lot.
Will you change another homeopath? I want to share my experience to you. My girl suffers eczema since she was 1 year old. I tried Chinese Doctor when she was 1 and 9 mths. After taking 4 mths chinese medicine, my girl's skin had improved a lot. Especially for her back. Her back's rash is nearly cured. My concern is I am afraid that there will be some harmfull effect to my girl if she takes the chinese medicine too long. Actually my friend's child is cured by this chinese doctor after taking 6 mths chinese medicine. The other reason I stopped the chinese medicine is my girl not willing to take the chinese medicine. Later, my girl's teacher introduces IMI to me and the teacher said that he is good and the drops he used is no harmful. That why I want to try whether Mr. Bradshaw can help me girl. But after nearly two mths' treatment. I found my girl's eczema is worse that before. I decided to stop the treatment and I will change another homeopath (Dr. Yuan). If Dr. Yuan still cannot treat my girl. I thick I will be back to chinese doctor.

Nikkyliu - I think I'll stay away from homeopath for now. However, if you're still interested, Dr. Rupal (I think it's her name) who is Indian and at IMI has been successful with Histamin's child. Histamin has been on this thread, so perhaps you can reach out to her. One positive point about IMI is that they recommended Allergenics line of cream, body lotion and bath lotion which seems pretty good.

I'm thinking of trying NAET although I can't really figure out their methodology. Appealing point is that they don't prescribe any medication although that also makes it more hocus pocusy. Still looking into it. I also heard that Chinese medicine works. My son is too young for that. If he still has eczema when he's older, I'll definitely try Chinese medicine.

Hi, YKK

I also want to try NAET. I have checked the information about NAET. I found there are two instituties One is a chinese lady. Which one you are going to try. Maybe we can share some information.

Hi YKY and everyone,

I've been following the thread but waiting for my baby's result before i post my reply. My baby is 6 months old and has bad eczema from 4 1/2 months.

I went to naturapath (Lynn Lim) instead of homeopath, as i have a friend who was treated successfully with NAET, my baby has bad eczema in his front and back body, been into steroids but as you know, it's worst when it comes back. Anyways, i went to see Lynn two weeks ago, no medication was given to baby except udo's choice probiotics and a massager that i used to a few points in his body after each feed. She prescribed me two vitamins which i think is OK to take as it's not my baby. ( i am still BF) So far, my baby's bad eczema has cleared after a week, but a new kind of allergy comes up in his body, this time, it's not a big concern as it looks like dots dots pimple like only and it's on and off, unlike his previous rashes which is heartbreaking just to look at it. The test is also not bad, we've found out what causes his allergies like plastic (tags from his clothes), and me eating eggs and nuts, amongst other things.

We're going back again for second consultation this weekend, it's not yet solved, but i'm happy with the progress, baby is just using aqueous cream, no soaps, no shampoos.

Give it a try, her fee is $800 for first, second is $250.
She is a nice lady too, she'll listen to you and try to "dig" when, how, why it comes out. Our first consultation lasted for an hour. The only thing we buy is the massager for $40, and a book for $250. She doesn't recommend NAET right away, she has some guidelines to follow and we'll see how it goes for 3 weeks.

Like you, I have doubt too when i first try it out, it's not scientifically proven, it sounds magic when you read about NAET, but with our baby's allergy, we should try all means if we got nothing to loose (except for the fee ;-) There's no drug involved, so it's a lot better than giving that steroid.

Let me know if you have questions.

i heard a lot of chinese medicine work, but my daughter just won't go near any chinese herbal drinks!! then there's this naturapath, i've never tried her, but she said she's best at ezcema. she's the owner of health quest (at citysuper, cwb & happy valley). maybe some of you can give her a try. i know she asks her patient to avoid A LOT OF FOOD (eggs, dairy, yogurt, cheese, a lot of fruits, wheat, gluten, oats, breads, etc), though. be prepared to only let your child eat a limited variety of food.

Dear MamaS
Thx for your sharing. I want to know has your child do any allergy test by Dr. Lim. I have interest to take my daughter to consult Dr. Lim.
Thanks !

mamaS, where is Lynn?

btw, my daughter's ezcema is coming back, starting where it all started. i noticed that every april it comes back. she was born in feb 05. i looked at the fotos for mar 05, and it already started on the face. i ignored it & finally in sept it's all over her arms & legs, so i brought her to her ped & he gave her steroid cream. of course, it improved in a week, and was cleared in 2. but it started again in apr 06, i ignored it & by june it was all over her cheeks & chin. i was in vancouver, so i brought her to a homeopath there. she said it was yeast & allergy to cow's milk, wheat & gluten. so i switched her to goat's. she got better with her complex homeopathy. in late july it started again. nothing we did helped & it was a scary sight. we returned to hk in sept & i brought her to my reiki healer, and it started getting better. she said it's not allergy, it's the pollution & her body cannot de-tox efficiently. so she's there to give her the energy to detox itself. but she did asked me to not bring her to places with more than 6 kids & crowded places for the next few mths. and she also asked me to bring her to the beach & park with real grass & walk the trail at the peak, & bring her close to big trees. cos natural beach (she recommended deep water bay), big natural trees (she recommended the one at trail on the peak) helps absorb bad energy from the body, and detox. so no playgroup with more than 6 kids until december. meanwhile in november i brought her to dr.rupa at IMI (who suit smy daughter better than graeme) who gave my daughter constitional homepath. and in december, i brought her to dr.yuan (cos dr.rupa was always unavailable), and he gave her ovus cream.

and 2 days ago, the rash started again on the old place where it always started. so i don't know whether it's the time of the year or what. cos my chinese doc said spring is the time when the toxin in the body get stirred up by the weather & will surface on the skin.
